Hi, I am a Nobie.

No need for avga card or breakout cable with that monitor.  It is vga (640x480) which any video card can output.  Of course you would be limited to that mode.  I used a similar monitor for my first cocktail and I liked it, however you won't be able to run games in their native resolution.

OK, any monitors you recommend in the price that will play classics's like Mrs pac man and donkey kong in there native resolution?  Has to fit a cocktail table.

Thanks

A regular old cga monitor will actually be a lot cheaper:

paired with the avga it will run the classics in their native res.
you will need a breakout cable.

This is a Betson Imperial CGA monitor for $189.00

You would need the ArcadeVGA card and video amplifier from Ultimarc to make it work easily.

this is the video amp correct?

Has anyone used one of these kits or any other kits you recommend.

Those kits are top-notch.  However, you wouldn't be cutting the wood if you got one, they come already cut and ready to assemble.

And you have the correct link for the video amp I mentioned earlier.

I'm using a modified arcade depot kit.

yeah, I meant I could make one if I didn't buy a kit.

I also am thinking of getting a third control panel.
The CP on both ends,  would there be enough room to mount a joystick, trackball and like 4 buttons?  I would like to be able to play Mrs pac man, donkey kong and marble madness in there full res?

thanks

ok, could I put a trackball ball at one end and the joystick at the other and just configure MAME.  I guess I could make a custome CP at one end also right?

The way the kits are built, I don't think a custom CP would work on the ends because of the size of the cutout on the side panel.  I'm sure you could call or email arcadedepot and they would do whatever you wanted if you gave them the dimensions though.  They are very responsive over there.

why does the cut out matter?  Can't I just make the CP longer?

I have one last kit for sale that is a little larger than the traditional size.  You can fit quite a few more controls on it.  I can cut the top for a 19" monitor or as large as a 27".  Here is the link:

couldn't I attach them to the front and not the cut out?  I don't see why this wouldn't work unless I am missing something.  I did email them to see if they could do something similar.  There MAME cabnit looks like that.

I understand how it attaches but I don't understand why I cound't modify it myself and make a whole new CP.  No biggy, I will go to plan B.

Thanks for the help, this is a great forum

they just wrote back to me and said that as long as I use a 2.25 trackball, a T-stick and four buttons that it would fit.
