Hi guys, first off let me point out that happ has the perfect 360 controllers on sale for $24.99 right now. I recently finished my cab and have 3 happ super joysticks. Two are being used as 8-ways and 1 is gonna be a dedicated 4-way. Now according to happ, perfect 360's can do 8-way or 4-way being converted in the same manner as the super. I plan to buy 2 of the perfect 360's while they're on sale and replace my supers used in 8-way. My question is to whether or not its worth spending the money to buy a third perfect 360 to use as a dedicated 4-way. I'll probably be buying an oscar 4-way plate regardless of what i use for the 4-way joystick. $25 is a good deal on the 360's and i'm having a hard time passing up buying a third at that price, but the question is, would it really be worth going that far for my 4-way. I guess what i'm really after is justification to buy more perfect 360's. LoL. Money and good deals aside, is it going too far using a perfect 360 for a 4-way joystick?

Why are you upgrading? I think an ultimate -> 360 is worth it, but if your supers are new and working, I don't think it would be worth the money. (but if you are, I might be willing to buy them off you).
as for the 4 way I don't know for sure (forgot if the 360's are based on the comp or supers... one of the two). But I know that the super 4ways aren't nearly as good as the Oscar plates... Or look around for a real 4way. The trouble with the super 4way setting is they have a dead zone that you can simulate in software. The plates, you will know when your going up or left.
but the supers with the oscar plates will do great. Same with the 360...

It might be worth checking with Happ to see if the Ms Pacman/Galaga joystick's restrictor plate (which is genuinely 4 way i.e. diamond shaped) can be used with the Perfect 360 joystick.

Thanx for the in put guys. The main reasons i'm buying the 360's is 1. i've heard they perform better for fighting games and 2. They're what i wanted to begin with, i just couldn't justify spending $40 a piece on them.

Well i'm not much on the looks of the ball top 4-ways(though i have considered the ms-pacman/galaga replacement) and that pretty much leaves me with the happ Ultimate which seem to have few supporters(or is it competitions). Plus i have a backup 8 way joystick if i went with an 8/4-way adjustable joystick. The major problem here is that i change my mind far too much about things. By the time its all said and done, i'll probably end up with a pile of joysticks laying around, LoL. Thanx for the input.

You might consider the nickel hack. I haven't seen it around for a bit..
but you basically nail a few nickels (or whats it quarters) on the underside of the joystick to limit the diagonals.
troubles. lining them up is hard (and you need it pretty much exact. And you can't remove it (which you don't care about).
worth a quick try I would guess...

The only 4/8 way switchable joystick that I've found that had satisfactory performance as a 4-way stick is the t-stick I got from ultimarc. None of the other switchables that I've tried comes close to feeling like a dedicated 4 way. Most of the 4/8 way switchables don't prevent the stick from moving diagonally they only prevent the stick from registering the diagonals.
I've never used one but Oscars restrictor plates should give you the true 4 way feel with any stick that they will fit.
I think the restrictors on the Happs 4-way are integrated into the joystick.
