Title: Dark Star project
Post by: MikeQ on December 16, 2005, 12:58:53 am
I posted some pics and video on the LED-WIZ since I've been programming mame and the LED-WIZ to illuminate the controls used by each game.

I will be adding side art and fiber optic end firing stars to the sides.

Also going to laminate the melamine with black formica.

Finally.  I have been waiting for some fiber optic use around here. Pics, Pics, Pics, Pics!

I'm trying to decide which approach to take.

1) drill holes, stick fiber optics through back, apply side art
2) apply side art, drill holes, stick fiber optics through back

#1 will give a soft glow to the starfield under the artwork
#2 will give a sharp crisp starfield but may result in messed up art work.

l've got the fiber optic emitter already.  It's a SuperVision 2000.  It has a color wheel that I'm going to replace with a twinkle wheel.  I'm also going to try replacing the MR16 Halogen with an MR16 LED.  The heat from the Halogen is too much for inside the cabinet.
