The "How did you find BYOAC" thread got me thinking what my first post was on this board. Here was mine, always the scavenger....

Can I setup an email notification from this board? It appears I can in the "Notification" area, but I cannot find a way to "mark a topic" for notification. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. I see I can mark THIS toipic for notifications below in the window I am currently in, but what about, say a notification of any posts to for sale/ trade? Thanks Again!

Mine was just under a year ago, and what a year it has been!
-
I asked how to wire an OK button and then promptly called Chad a daisy.
-S
-
Here was mine:
I discovered on my single player X-arcade that there are still 13 active inputs (which are used on the two player model).
-
Mine was a typical D9200 monitor question. I got two replies.

Dude, like ten thousand posts later, who knows?

From April 22, 2003:
I don't have a cab built yet, but I have MAME running on my 27" Zenith in the livingroom, The PC it's running on is a Shuttle ITX (Very Nice SMALL formfactor with sound and video integrated into the MOBO, as well as Composite & S/Video out) I'm displaying 800x600 on my TV, with no special equiptment, so I think the 640x480 limitation may have to do with the video card & not the television. By the way, It's an older S3 video chipset on my system, nothing new or fancy at all. MAME loks great, running Windows - not something you really want to do on a TV at all.
That was my first post (at least I'm pretty sure it was). I had registered on the board 4 days earlier after what seems like an eternity of lurking on the boards anonymously.
BTW, I still don't have a cab built yet, but at least I have all the parts, wood, tools, and other goodies. In another 2 1/2 years, I may have even started on it.

Okay, okay, if I did it right, it was here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=19230.0):
I'm still planning mine, but the following unoriginal names have occurred to me:
TowerCade
I, Tower
Who's Your DaddyCade
I am seriously open to suggestions. Bonus points for using the word Tower.

I think I found mine.
I was recently given an old control panel from a Cyberball 2072 cabinet. I got what I considered at the time to be a crazy idea, and wired the thing into an old keyboard that I happened to have so I could use it with MAME on my computer. Little did I realize at the time that there are plenty of folks out there with the same crazy idea! So anyway, I've got the CP close to finished, and then I discovered this site! Too bad I didn't know about it last week.
In any case, I had never even heard the term keyboard encoder before I discovered this site. I was just wondering what the advantages using an encoder have over just wiring the controls directly into a keyboard. Anyone care to enlighten me?
By the way, I'm just curious, I have no intention of ripping this thing apart and starting over. This was just a little project that I did for kicks using some spare bits that I had around the house.
Thanks,
-S
Look how polite I was. I even said thanks.
Screw you,

You also indicated that you had done something.
Misleader.
-
I also said that I had no intention of ripping that asstacular control panel apart, which I did less than a month later to install the controls in a cab where they belong.
-S
-
It all depends on what your definition of asstacular is, is.

I just looked it up, but it's not in my dictionary. It must have left with spoo.
-S
-
And the asstacular ran away with the spoo.

Hey, for the record, I don't hate MAME, I hate people who use MAME and are also asshats.
Since I hate ALL asshats, the people who use MAME are statistically irrelevant.
Therefore no one uses MAME.

Yup, that all checks out.

Here is is...This is after having lurked for a couple of months...
Hi all,
I am new to the forum and new to electronics. I tried using a serial cable to connect the I-PAC2 to the controls on the panel and it did not work. I got a keyboard error when trying to boot up the computer. I ended up abandoning the idea but am curious as to why it did not work out. Any ideas out there? More info on the Serial hack at
http://www.garry.ca/construction09.html

For more info on my serial cable hack...
Thanks,
Garry
And for the record, I LOVE MAME, and all that it stands for...

Here is mine...
What cracks me up the most is how he keeps posting about his imaginary player, but can't seem to understand from the replies that not one person is interested in buying. Makes for funny posts, though.
who cares about your buying? Maybe you have no money like rats?! Do you want one for free? image you have one!
I would like to officially start my membership here by saying this about the quote above...
BWAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!
Your use of the english language is FANTASTIC!!
I still have no money like rats!

I'm still trying to figure out how to find my first post.
EDit:
Eh, found it. It was boring anyway. June 19, 2005. Shows how effective the black hole of EE is at trapping people. A few scant months and I'm as strange as the rest of you.

i was astounded why cptn stotelmyers (from Monk) voice sounded really familiar

Monk. One of the better shows I used to watch.
Those daisies effed around with the scheduling and/or if it would even be shown at all on the day they claimed they'd show it, so much so, we ended up losing track and not watching it at all before they cancelled it.
If they have that show on DVD, I'll gladly pick it up. Seeing how it's been treated, I'm not holding my breath
-
That's pretty much what the networks do with all good programming these days. Move it around so nobody knows when it's on, then cancel it because of lack of interest. Gotta make room for yet another reality show.
-S
-
No kidding. ABC has to be the king of that crap. It's no wonder I don' t watch any TV.
-
That is why Tivo is there.

Back to topic.

Monk is already out on DVD, although it just hasn't been the same IMHO since they canned Sharona.

Is that you badlam ?
come out of your banana, I've got a freesbee for you
I understand you're from another country, but the whole "badlam" thing didn't make sense the first time, and it still doesnt.
Go troll someone else.

Show some restraint in posting threads will you.
Even in EE, you look like a fool... which I suppose is actually pretty impressive... but only slightly.

show me one post I've made that is out the bounds of what's been going on.
And hey, I'm only here for the ride. sorry if I'm a little sarcastic

Project announcement:
Here is my design a large CP with lots of unused space.
I plan on:
10 - happ horizontial pushbuttons
2 - 8-way happ competition joysticks
ipac2 encoder
5/8" plywood or mdf
Never got past using cardboard though. I liked the light weight so it could easily sit in my lap. Now using similar design out of fiberglass.Monk. One of the better shows I used to watch.

They didn't cancel it. New season next month. (http://www.usanetwork.com/series/monk/index.html) Sharona left during the middle of the second or third season to do movies. They had to delay shooting until they found a replacement.
They changing the day that "My name is Earl" is on , now on thurdays, because Joey sucks and so does the Apprentice.

Liar.
HI! MinWah you did a great job with mamewah.
I have one problem: After a leave a game I get an error.
"Runtime Error '62'"
"input past end of file"
I only have this problem with my MAME emulator. And I have tried playing several diffrent games and when I exit the error still comes up. After I press "OK" it goes back to my windows desktop and closes mamewah down.
I am running:
windows XP
I upgraded to mamewah 0.96 and was using 0.955b
mame 0.74b
Can someone help?
what other info might be helpful to solve this problem?
THAT is your first post. ::) I now know this because I wanted to see your mockup and perhaps your fiberglass CP. I may never be able to believe you again. Thanks for destroying my faith in you. ;)

Those marquees are very nice. Nice work. That last blue one would be a great cp overlay..

Off topic again, but she didn't leave to do movies. They fired her after she insisted on more money. She wouldn't budge because she felt that she deserved more.... USA didn't feel the same way.

Heres Mine http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=42308.msg388026#msg388026
was asking for help with my dead monitor

I was explaining a really complicated PC hookup to and arcade monitor.
Then the ArcadeVGA arrived and I felt small and insignificant. And still do. :(

so great job on the book...and i'm sure i'll be in and out of here quite a lot as I build my cabinet(s)
