When in MAME and using the TAB key to configure controls, how do you clear out a mistake when mapping a key? I can't find it in the docs?
-
Hit enter to remap a key and hit any key several times. It will either go back to the default key (that game only) or it will set it to none (all games config). Then just hit enter and enter the key you want to use. Good luck.

ESC (or the key mapped to "UI Cancel") will clear out the line. Press enter like normal to edit that line, then press ESC. Works differently in the general vs this game menus. In this game, the input is set back to the default. In general, the input is set to none.

Thanks for the info.

If you happen to accidently map tab to enter (like I did once) then you need to delete the mame/cfgs/mame.cfg

Or if you happen to clear the mapping to the tab key like I did once. :)

a good reason to use the ctrlr files... those menu keys are in the std.ini ;)

What the hell are you talking about?
To clear a mapping just hit enter like you are normally going to remap it. And while it is waiting for you to hit another key just press ESC (or whatever key you have set for UI-Cancel) and it will come up as being mapped to NONE.
