Title: Anyone paint balltops?
Post by: Dervacumen on December 14, 2005, 09:20:46 am
I've got a couple of Ms. Pac/Galaga reunion sticks but they are of course red, and I want them either white, black, or purple.  Anyone ever paint these things?

The only way I could even remotely see this working due to all of the oils and junk that a person's hands have, would be to paint the balltop and then coat the thing in some kind of resin but even then I have a hard time believing it would look decent.

There are joysticks with different colored balltops out there... slickstick to name just one.

Happ Super handles fit the Reunion, so GroovyGameGear's VersaBall handles will fit, as will SlikStik's handles.

But if you still don't see what you need, a very quick look here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=search) found me these two threads:

Replacing the stick is probably the way to go, but if you're hell-bent on trying to paint it you might try using vinyl dye.  People have used it on keyboards and mice before with good results.  Here's an article on it. (http://www.modthebox.com/vinyldye.shtml)
