Title: noob questions
Post by: Gaston77 on December 14, 2005, 07:18:44 am
Hello guys,

Here's the deal. I got an European PAL Xbox which runs on 220V. I want to buy a Wells Gardner U3100 monitor straight from the US. I have built the cabinet +  controls (X-arcade's DIY kit). The questions I have are the following

1. What is the easiest way to convert the Xbox out signal to the AV signal from the U3100? The Xbox has a scart cable out, the U3100 has a DB15 cable. I would think the best way to go is XGA converter box ; http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=13&products_id=3235& . Correct?

2. Voltage. Will the U3100 work on 220V or will I need to get a stepup converter (which are dead heavy and expensive as hell).

3. PAL Xbox on VGA CRT. What is the quality of the screen? Is it worth buying the U3100 in this case? Or can I just as well strip my Tv from the casing and build that in?

4. Sound. What do I need and how do I mount?

5. Are the Xbox2Jamma kits any good? Such as http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/jammatimekits.htm

Sorry if these are noob questions. Help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance guys.
Cheers,

You might be better off with a CGA monitor.
