Title: coin switch quick disconnects
Post by: TravistyOJ on December 12, 2005, 10:50:53 pm
Hey, I feel stupid for asking this.  But what is the size of the terminal on coin switches, I need to get QDs, and they are not .187.  Any ideas?

I don't know the size but Radio Shack sells combination packs that contain the small ones you need.

Well, it depends on the make & model of the coin door. Some have switches with 1/4"  (.250") wide terminals while others have 3/16" (.187") wide terminals. Some of the lamp socket terminals are even smaller at .110"

My coin door switch uses the same size quick disconnects as the Cherry microswitches. I have a Coin Collectors door (not Happ). A quick hack you can do if the QD is too big, place the QD on the small terminal and mash the metal part of the QD down with the crimper. This will hold it in place. Recommended as a temporary solution.

Cool, must be .250, cuz the .187's arent big enough.  Thanks

"Coin Collectors" door? Never heard of it. The only ones close to that name would be:

CoinCo (Coin Acceptors, Inc.)

Coin Controls

All Coin Controls doors use that crappy blue "Busy Bee" style microswitch with the 1/4" terminals.

Oops. I meant COINCO - Model 2812. Not the former.

This is the one I have.  Just out of curiousity? Why are they crappy?

The "Busy Bee" coin switches use ordinary silver internal contact points. This causes erratic credits/missed credits due to poor contacts. The internal switch contacts should have been gold flashed  for reliability.
