"Volunteers from Indonesia's largest Islamic organisation will guard churches across the world's most populous Muslim nation on Christmas amid fears of terrorist attacks."
These people are risking getting blown up themselves, to protect another religion's holy place and sacred symbols. Even the most jaded among us has to admit that this is a positive development. How many of us would do the same?

Also, the question remains, will this sort of news be picked up by US media channels? And if not, why not?
In another thread, ChadTower suggested that Muslims could do more to project a positive image of their religion, and I'd say the sentiment expressed by these Indonesians certainly qualifies. But if a tree falls in the woods, and no one is around to hear it....does it make a sound?

Well a fear of being bombed might be a factor. :o

IIRC, when the Iraq war started, didn't a bunch of US civilians fly themselves over there to stand in front of churches and schools and hospitals and such?
This is a positive thing that should be mentioned in the national media if it does in fact happen.

When Serbia was conducting "ethnic cleansing" in Kosovo, NATO and the US were attacking Christians to protect Muslims.
-
Will the muslim's be looked upon as traitors by the jihadists for protecting christians? If I were a conspiracy theorist whackjob I'd be wondering if they using reverse psychology on this one knowing in advance that the churches are safe already on Christmas.
In Either accord; sincerity or not this should be shown by the US media.
-
If you're a consipracy theorist you would think that they are using this as a way to get INTO the churches on Xmas so that they themselves could blow them up.

even more miraculous, the Muslims have no problem saying Christmas instead of "that one holiday that comes on the 25th". stupid liberals ;D

And the coverage, at least what I saw from the usually talking heads, derided them for doing so. Basically they were painted as unpatriotic peace-niks who deserved to be blown up. Not quite the portrayal one would hope for and certainly not a "positive" portrayal.
Hopefully, if this story *is* covered, the enlightened media pundits over here will agree that what these kids in Indonesia are doing is beyond ridicule.

Erm, the main difference being that the Americans were going in the middle of a military invasion, so they WERE stupid and DID deserve to be blown up.
