8 inches of snow I'm here in PHILADELPHIA baby. beuatiful out , too bad i am going to work. My truck is in the shop so i have to drive a chevy cavalier in this mess...... If i don't make it you can have my plywood.........
-
I ain't driving in that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- to get it I'll pick the stuff up in spring
-
15 minutes south of Philly and I got about 3" of snow.
Love how that works.
-
I may be sleeping in the office tonight...
-
Just woke up to about 10 inches this morning. (Snow, that is, not morning wood haha) And guess what, I have not yet de-winterized my snowblower this year so it's SHOVELING TIME! Crap...
Eric.
-
Yay! Snow! ;D
-
We are getting effed in Boston right now, yay. The only good part is watching all the south boston townies fight over shoveled out parking spots
-
Yep, southern MA/northern RI, lots of snow. 6"+ so far and it's still coming down hard.
I'm going to get all the inner tubes inflated. We're going tubing tomorrow! Hell yeah.
-
Glad to pass it on to you guys, now that it effed up my whole day/night/day again >:( They're just lucky I don't mind taking their money, dagnabbit.
I hate impatient people who think it's their world, we're just revolving around them.
Check this out. Some ass clown chick is paying attention to an accident that is on the same side of the road I am driving on, but just across the intersection. She blows the red light, swerves, and tags the barest end of my plow. Opened her quarter panel up like a can opener!
She stops, jumps out and starts screaming at me about why the eff I don't watch the lights I coulda killed her with that plow.
Me shaking my head in disbelief seems to set her off in a new level of rage. So much so that she hasn't noticed the cop writing her out a ticket, since he was already at the scene of the other accident and saw the whole thing.
When she realizes SHE'S the one getting a ticket, she goes ballistic on the cop. He tells her to shut her mouth or he's gonna handcuff her right on the spot and take her to jail. When she shuts up, he tells her with the most condescending tone I've ever heard in my life "You're so out of it you didn't even notice you ran a red light and hit HIM! He's out here making the roads and businesses safe so that people like you can leave the house, and you think HE'S to blame?
Then he made her apologize to me, and sent me on my way ;D
That was the sweetest thing that's happened to me in quite some time ;D
-
Yeah, this is awesome. I had to go to work this morning for a critical meeting, but was set to leave at 2PM. I'm still at work because, between the snowfall and the crew plowing down the rows in the parking lot, the cars are too buried and packed in with snow to move.
-

Nice when those conservative fatcats in their volvo's have to apologize to a down to earth working class blue collar union liberal guy like you.
Way to stick it to the man!

Well half of my office didn't make it in today. But we got so little snow here in Philly that by 9 AM lots of it had melted. Unfortunately damn near everyone who works here lives out in the burbs... What does that mean all in all? Well the arcade machine I built is getting plenty of play today by yours truely. :)
-
I am SO going out and getting a plow put on the front of my car.
Sure it'll be weird driving around in with a plow in Dallas, but I now I just can't stand the thought of missing opportunities to open up a quarter panel like a can opener!
-
You snowplow guys are a menace to society!
-
Called the boss' house @ 8:00am to let him know that I didn't know if I was coming in today. I think they were incredulous that there was 8" of snow. They said they only had 3" (they're 11 miles away, as the crow flies).
I'm glad I didn't go in. All told, we got 14" of snow. I watched 4x4s on the road outside my house fight with the hill there. Since I drive a Kia Rio Cinco, there was no way I was going to drive the 21.4 miles to work.
They called me about noon to harass me because they were dead bored. I had my wife talk to them as I was busy shovelling out the cars in the driveway (as well as the stairs, the walkway, the sidewalk, man I'm sick of shovelling...).

At first I wasn't sure what to do, so I was gonna surrender ;D If I had been there any longer, I was gonna have to start "troop redeployment"

Peale, if you were closer I'd come dig you out with ole Chompy.
The Murray 11HP 29 In. 4 Cycle Tecumseh engine Snow Thrower is our most powerful dual stage unit ideal for large areas to be cleared in the heaviest snowfalls. The unit's 4 cycle engine takes pump gas and has a separate fill for lubricating oil which is a multigrade 5W30. Other features include a serrated auger to help break the snow, aggressive X-Trac tires for great traction, electric start, remote control steel discharge chute, single hand control, halogen yardlight and drift cutters, Additionally a 4 year warranty, which is twice the industry standard, gives added piece of mind.
Should I mention that one side of my "hill" is called Boler Mountain (a ski resort in winter), and the other side (behind my house) is a huge sleddin' hill.

No cupholder and seat warmer? Why don't you ever listen to me when I tell you if you're gonna do something, either go big or go home?
You almost disgust me with your "it's so cool even though I didn't get the towing package and winch"
;)

I live in Minnesota...I remember when I was a kid, we'd get tons of snow....
now we hardly get any...we just get cold
what happened?
and I also don't remember you Easterners getting dumped on so much either 10-15 years ago?

I really should mention that I'm not a redneck... I mean, I love the V8 snowblower and all, but jeez, my neigbours would "run me outta dodge".

It was sunny and 67 degrees here today. Nyaahh!
I actually wish we would get some snow. We actually did get an inch or two at my house a couple weeks ago, but it melted off the same evening. This Sunday, my folks, my brother's family and mine are all going up to kill some trees for Christmas, and we'll have to drive a couple hours to get to some decent sledding snow for the kids.
-
i really wanted it to be warm outside so I can do stuff this weekend. oh well now I got a real good excuse to be slack
-
This Sunday, my folks, my brother's family and mine are all going up to kill some trees for Christmas,
I'll try to pay attention and listen for the screaming. The trees, I'm sure, will be whispering about one of their own being slaughtered.
Heartless --missioncontrol-- ;)

I'm a half hour north in the 'burbs and we got about 3" too.
Must have been a very centralized 8".

ONE!? Sir, you must think I'm some kind of ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?---.

This is what I had to dig out of the other day at work. We got dumped on. Total whiteout for about 2hrs. I miss my 4WD. :(
It's a bit late to the thread, but I figured I'd send the pic anyhow.

We got a tiny little amount of snow. I was able to get most of it off the porch & walkway with a kitchen broom. School was still cancelled for thurs & fri. last week. I love Oklahoma.

They DID get a lot of snow! The pic isn't even showing up - can anyone else see it through the whiteout?
Something's not right there ;)
-
Yeah, this is awesome.
-
Mr. C posted these pics recently in Purgatory. I'm guessing these are the same ones he intended to post here.

That's only a few inches. Not that bad, really, just a bit of an inconvenience.
-
Depends on your geography. Here that much snow would shut the whole state down for three days.
-S
-
Here, 6" of snow like that makes you put on boots and then go about your regular business.
-
Six inches of snow and I'm not leaving the house. I don't know how you northern types can stand having that crap around all winter.

The Nor'easters are the best part about winter in New England. The day of, everybody runs to the local Market Basket (or "Mah-ket" Basket) and empties the shelves like they're going to be locked inside their homes for days on end.
Then you get hit by the storm. Thunder and lightning in the middle of a snow storm that dumps upwards of 2-3ft of snow overnight. It's great. Except for the shoveling out and the battle for street parking.
mrC
-
There is no battle for street parking if you own your driveways.
I do have to battle the plows that come in and build 4 foot walls at the foot of my newly shoveled driveway, though.
-

I have this image of Chad hiding in the bushes in wait for the plows to come, then jumping out and running at them with a Tom-n-Jerry-looking stick of lit dynamite.
"There, that'll lurn 'em not to plow my driveway in again. That'll lurn 'em reeeeeal good!"
-
Pfft. That's for the loonies. I built a platform on my driveway that is attached to a trebuchet. When they build the plow wall, SPROING, I pull the lever and the snow is 3 blocks south.

Practicing for the illegal aliens?
-
Trebuchets are versatile. They almost conquered Europe.
-
Man, I wish I would have thought of that when there was still snow on the ground. If we get any more snow this winter, I'm setting up the treb for some serious snowball hurling action. ;D

Thunder and lightning in the middle of a snow storm
Thundersnow.
How cool is that?
-
There are very few sights cooler than driving down a back road right after a good snowstorm. EVERYTHING is pristine white. The trees, the poles, the houses, the road, everything. There isn't a thing that isn't covered in untouched soft whiteness.
-
"There isn't a thing that isn't covered in untouched soft whiteness."
Theres a joke in there somewhere, but I'll be danged if I can get it to come out and play.

Something about a night on the town with Bosss7.

He said white, not pasty and pale and stumbling around looking for a back porch. Man, you read WAY too much into "white" ;D

Hey, if it's on his mind, eventually it will spurt forth.
