Title: 24" television for monitor
Post by: dmsuchy on December 08, 2005, 01:10:46 pm
Well my old 21" NEC computer monitor blew out in my cab, and for some reason I cannot find a cheap replacement monitor that will fit in my exisiting cab. ??? I have already busted 2 -21" computer monitors by trying to take off the plastic casing to gain inches. What I need, is a monitor that is around 18 inches deep and all the cheap moitors I have been finding are really old and around 22" deep. Soooooooooooooo I decided to stay cheap and go with a television, actually this the one I'm thinkin about..

My question is, what kind of video card should I go for that will work well with this TV, or am I crazy for going with a TV? The other cabs I have seen with TVs look real nice and with this TV I will gain a couple of inches on the screen. Any comments? Thanks

Wouldn't any gfx card with tv out be fine?  ATI have a wide range for example.

I've seen a few with them in as well and they do look great.

I'd like a suggestion as well.  I'm currently using a Sony PVM 2530 which I'm thinking is on its way out, and will prob be replacing it with a TV soon.  My video card is so old it was actually whittled out of a piece of oak.  So it looks like I'll need a full video revamp.  My wife has decided to abstain one day for every dollar I spend on my cab, so I'm in a "best I can do at the lowest price" situation.  Maybe with your help I will see some action by '08.

Just to avoid the "search" replies...

I did check out some of the older post on this subject, but the computer biz moves fast.  I don't expect anyone to do the leg work here, just some first hand setups or "Hey I saw this on..." post is what I was thinking.  The biggest issue I had with my current setup is the blurriness of the windows enviornment.  The games mostly looked sharp, but trying to do anything in windows made my eyes cross.
