All I ordered was some carriage bolts, vinyl and some glass cleaner (to get it to $25 to avoid the stupid handling charge).
-
geee...
my advice to everyone if you can buy it somewhere else then buy it there instead of happ
that's what i always try to do
like buying happ push buttons which you can get cheap on ebay with CHEAP shipping.
-
There's no way that the actual shipping cost is $25 unless they're using the worst shipping company in the world. Happ always does that, they charge rediculous shipping. Heck, that's probably where they make the most money.
If it wasn't for the fact that it would be like stomping on my own toes I'd... well.... I'd do nothing, but what they do with the shipping cost is not ethical. It's fine if they don't want to give the shipping charges up front, but it SEEMS like they overcharge in addition. We'd have to do a full scale investigation to really find out, but what's the point. Buy Happs stuff from someone that DOESN'T overcharge on shipping.
-
Happ charged me $12 shipping for a $14 joystick. F Happ.
-
Lucky me, I live right near Happ so I can just pick up my order. But it's not exactly convenient, at least not how they had it set up last time I went there. I had to dodge forklifts, etc. Anyway, aren't there people on this board selling Happ product for less than Happ prices anyway?
Eric.

You guys need to buy from ponyboy. He sells Happs products at bulk pricing and completely reasonable shipping.

He ships at the actual USPS rate. Absolutely no markup at all.
-
I've been able to get a partial shipping refund from Happs by calling customer service.
-Mike
Don't forget my shipping is reasonable too (although we don't carry carrage bolts).

You are correct, sir!
-
I'd buy from Ponyboy any day of the week over HAPPS. He even ships to Canada!
-
Who is this Ponyboy? ??? I was wondering the exact same thing about shipping costs when looking at the Happs site today. I will be ordering soon.
-
Check the Buy Sell Trade forum, there is a stickied topic with a title similar to "HUGE HAPP SALE" something or other. There he has his prices listed. You can PM him about your order and payment and all that jazz. That's where I'm planning on ordering.
-
You got lucky! Read their order form. They add a $5 "handling" fee. Then the shipping. I got screwed both ways, without lube. I chose DHL shipping, and they went ahead and changed it to UPS. $35 on $25 worth of items. Not only that but since I live in Canada, I get brokerage charges which are ridiculously high through UPS. That's why I chose DHL. Did Happ call me to ask if it was ok to change shipper? Nope. Processed the order, charged my card. Screw me.

For Canadian orders, if you're near Toronto go to Starburst Coin Machines. No shipping, they have all the popular Happs products in stock and if not, will usually have it delivered to them within a week. I've ordered through Happs (to a US address so all I had to pay was exchange) and it was still cheaper to go through Starburst.

Brax,
Normally I would do that. But Starburst wanted $16.00 cad for a bezel that Happ was selling for $6.00 us. I thought to myself, for a couple dollars more I would have it delivered to my door and save me a trip to Toronto! BIG MISTAKE!
-
Bob Roberts has Happ stuff and a whole lot more...
http://homearcade.org/BBBB/siteindex.html
Great prices, great service, no excessive shipping costs.
-
Ponyboy also sells most of his items at about half the cost of happ. Ponyboy is a go to. I go to him first, then I shop around. Based on my experiences, Randy T is great, Ultimarc is lightning fast from the UK, and Ponyboy is as straight as it gets.

Stop yer ---smurf---'n. Happs wanted over $100 US to ship a monitor bezel to me. I would kill for a "local" supplier that would only charge me $18.00 for a delivery.
You people are spoilt. :P

Did they stab a baby too? You're right. Eff them

Happ customer service blows poo. I agree with those who suggest Ponyboy and Bob Roberts. You can get all of the good parts with none of the shipping gang raping that you can expect from Happ.

I heard Seph say he refuses to shop anywhere else but Happs since he found out that bit of info, and Happs still gives him "teh good partz babeeeee!"

Has anyone reading this thread ever ordered a 27" bezel from Happ? If so, how much was shipping?
Thanks
Coleman

If you do a search for "bezel" I'm almost certain a few will come up. I seem to remember someone talking about shipping for that thing being around $30 since it's considered "oversize" ::)
I'm thinking I read that in Tailgunner's $2 bezel thread, but like I said, do a search for bezel. I know you'll have a ton of threads to wade through, but the answer lies in there. Mebbe throw in "happs" and "shipping" as other keywords

I try not to buy from Happs anymore because their shipping is a joke. The last time I ordered something I bought a bunch of parts and told them to ship it all at once. They charged me a ton for the stuff, and then I got a second huge charge. Turns out they had all the items in stock...but one of those items was coming from Vegas, while the other stuff was coming from Illinois. I got two massive shipping charges which was close to $40.00. I wrote and complained and I was able to get the Vegas shipping charge eliminated (because they didn't let me know, and because it was a single pushbutton).
I've bought a few things off of ebay from a guy who sells Happs parts in his Ebay store. It's easy to do it that way so I can just put an order in and not have to work out any other details.
-
Looking at the order that contained my 27" bezel, the total shipping from HAPPs was $31.51
The order was for:
1 x 4 player coin door assy
1 x cash box plastic
1 x 2&4 entry coin box enclosure
2 x denom insert $.25 Player 1
2 x denom insert $.25 Player 2
2 x denom insert $.25 Player 3
2 x denom insert $.25 Player 4
2 x 10' Marquee retainer
1 x plastic bezel F/27"
It wasn't CHEAP.... but not TOO heinous for what I ordered.
-
I bought a Vision Pro 19" monitor from them.
$17 UPS shipping.
Not bad at all.
-
Randy T is great, Ultimarc is lightning fast from the UK, and Ponyboy is as straight as it gets.
I have purchased from all of these guys! All of them are excellent
and very fast!
You are right about ULTIMARC.
You can purchase something from Andy at Ultimarc in the UK.
He sends it out DHL. And i will receive it in 3 days here in SC. (U.S.A)
Great Service!!
Now i can order something from California (U.S.A)
And it will be shipped by UPS. And it will take almost a week and a half
to get here !
What's up with DAT ???

So did I and this is why I can't figure out why they are raping me with this order. My monitor and bezel were ordered together and shipped in separate boxes and shipping was around $17 for me as well. I just don't get it - the only thing that might be oddly shaped is the vinyl but I don't think it necessitates such high shipping...

I know you may not REALLY care to know why, but here's why.
DHL and FedEx send their stuff to a central location, then it's sorted and sent to its respective area of the country, where it's sent through (at the most) one more finer sort. FedEx's stuff that's NOT overnight is done the same way as UPS.
UPS - you go to your local office or perhaps a pack-n-ship location (like a mailboxes plus). IF it hits during a sort cycle (meaning it's picked up and entered into the sort), it'll get processed and perhaps loaded and shipped off before a shift change or a load leaves. That's a big if.
If it DOESN'T, it gets sorted during the next cycle, which might be 4-12 hours later, depending on how it's classified. Then it's loaded on a truck, which may or may not leave immediately when it's full. Then, it may be sent to a larger sort facility where it's sorted with the same crap it went through at the last sort facility. The difference is that now it leaves that area and heads towards your state. When it reaches your state, it's broken down yet again to a finer sort, shipped off to your area, sorted once more, and delivered to you.
If you've got a regular old Ground Delivery package, it's not treated any differently than any other package, the difference is that it might go onto a truck that leaves the sort facility later in the day than those more expensive shipping option packages, or perhaps the next day even.
When you pay for overnight or 2-day, everything's done almost identically between any major package delivery company.
Howsabout THAT for some crap you never wanted to know?
-
Sorry to hear about this problem. If you need any Happ parts or components please let me know. I ship USPS Priority. I do not have handling charges and I definetly do not mark up the shipping charges.
The only parts I do shy away from are:
Bezels, Monitors & T-Molding.
The shipping can get a little crazy.
Thanks for the SUPPORT.

Oh no!!! My shipment from happs finally arrived and the vinyl was damaged in transit! It looks like someone flattened out the roll so nbow there are creases/folds every few inches that I don't think I can remove.
I called up Happs though and they are sending out a replacement at no extra cost to me - pretty good customer service at least...
I also found out why shipping was so high - I ordered 2 feet of vinyl and insted of rolling it up and putting it in a 24" box, they rolled it the long way and sent it in a 40" box. Oh well...

COME ON! Serioiusly? No, seriously? Sure, it sounds like great customer service and all, but FTW?!? Who in their right mind DOES something like that? It also sounds like stuff was packed on top of it so that it was pressed on while shipping. With all the effing money charged on shipping, you mean to tell me they can't afford a mailing tube to keep that vinyl from getting crushed while in transit? That sounds like piss poor handling to me, which seems to be priced at a PREMIUM service.
I ordered a fistful of buttons and 8 joys from them. I got them in TWO BOXES! That's a RIDICULOUS practice, and when I called them, their stance was that "well, looking at your order, "X" was on backorder, which is why they were sent in two boxes. The problem is, I GOT THAT BOX FIRST! When explained to the phone person, then it was "different shipping methods". I got my second box's shipping cost refunded because I told them I'd be disputing the ENTIRE charge based on their terrible shipping practices.
I shouldn't have HAD to argue and explain to the ass hats that their first explanation SHOULD have been "different shipping methods" and that was due to "X was on backorder". I have no doubt in my mind they were either running low on a certain size shipping box, the ass hat packing it thought everything would fit and didn't want to pull everything out and repack it, or they're nicking the non-op people as a "surcharge" for dealing with the comparitively small orders we give them.
I've never said squat about their shipping practices because it's my fault I went there in the first place, but WHAT - somebody, please tell me, I REALLY SERIOUSLY want to know - WHAT other online vendor can't or won't give you shipping costs when placing your order? I've ordered from NewEgg NUMEROUS times, and they ALSO deal with small parts and multiple box orders like this, and they've ALWAYS got the amount of shipping figured out, and I also get a friggen tracking number and countless OTHER pieces of information with my order that tell me anything I'd need to know. The answer often heard here is "Call them, they'll be able to tell you "X" about your order". Why SHOULD I have to call to find out something countless other vendors can let me find out on my own online?
For what I actually PAID for my order, I don't feel I got shafted. If I had paid what they WANTED to charge me, I would have paid almost double for shipping. How many countless other people DON'T get so pissed off to the point where they feel the need to call up and dispute a charge with them, and question their piss poor shipping practices? I learned a lesson, and it was "if it's worthwhile to buy from Happs, take the hour and a half drive to their facility in IL to buy it straight out". It's far less of a pain in ---my bottom--- to handle my shipping internally.

Amusement Plus is another alternative. These guys provide great service, fast shipping, and don't rape you with charges. Cheaper than Happ too. I'm not sure if they have a website, but the phone number is:
1-800-377-7729
Since I quit ordering from Happ they give me a call every two or three weeks to see if I need anything. Sorry, Happ.... I'm good.
