Man I was sure this old 27" TV I had lying around had an s-video input. So sure in fact I didn't bother to check and went to the store today and picked up a video card with s-video out.
Turns out my TV has no s-video input!!
Now what? Do they make video cards with RCA jacks? Do they s-video to RCA converters?
If they did would the difference in quality be apparent? If need be I can just go buy a TV with s-video output. Is this what I should do or can I salvage the old one?
Thanks!

S-Video to RCA adaptors are very, very common and very cheap, check ebay! I had the same problem once, my solution was to hack in the RCA jack myself... but whatever works for you =)

Those cables are fairly common, you should be able to get one at your local electronics store or radio shack. Hell, even good PC stores have them.
Cheers

there is gonna be a noticable difference..... only special combinations of tv/video card will give a decent picture with composite out....

Mine looks better through my rca jack than it did/does with the s-video cable... strange

If I had to guess, I'd say either the S-Video cable you are using is poorly shielded, or the device you are plugging into the TV has got some bad feedback or interference problems.
S-Video is noticably superior to Composite in every instance I've ever seen.

Actually its happened on all the cards I've used... and I doubt theres any problem with the cable, since its hacked up halfway through and spliced into the rca jack and the s-video.. they both use the same cabling, only the rca is using 2 instead of 4
