This is probably a REALLY stupid question (insert comments here :D)
Does anyone know where one may be able to get any ringtunes for cell phones that are video game related? (ie, phone rings, and you get the pacman intro)
I've looked about, but have not seen anything exactly like that. Mostly stuff like the Pacman show theme, that sort of stuff.
Best Regards

if your phone happens to use .mp3 ringtones, i find the best way to get them is to make them yourself. You won't have any trouble finding .mp3 of almost ANYTHING... and you can just cut them to size and alter the bitrate if you'd like.
If its polyphonic ringtones, that won't be much help. I'm not sure of any places to get them off hand.

That's precisely what my phone does! When it goes off in public, most people just look at me funny, but every once in a while they get all excited, and we end up talking games.
Somebody linked up a site for arcade ringtones in this thread:

Ya, there does not seem to be very many good polyphonic tones for mine. I found at that link Galaga, and it's not bad. I just have to download it and actually try it in my phone.

That's actually one of my favorite parts of my N-Gage QD.
The "diversions" ringtone that comes with it plays a short victory tone followed by a mix of what kind of sounds like Mario shoe-squeaking and galaga ship-firing. It's all game effects and actually sound pretty cool. It's in the weird Nokia MIDI format though.

I'll be darned. I have the same phone and never even bothered to play that one before. Pretty cool.

I should do this, or something.
My phone rings.

Mine plays the Star Wars Imperial March, which proclaims to the world that I am indeed a hopeless nerd.

Yeah, flip, kind of small, no little caller ID screen. Cingular. I only got it for when I was in the middle of a job search but now my wife likes having it in case the school calls and tells us a m00sE bit one of our kids or something.
How would I get a ringtone onto it? It has a little chip under the battery but it's not a smartcard or anything I could get a drive for... maybe if I put it up on my webpage and downloaded it via the phone?
-
thats what I have is the samsung a660.
Here are the ring tones I have.
Galaga game start
Ms PacMan game start
Imperial March-Star Wars
Ms PacMan Intermistion

Mind you, m00sE bites can be pretty nasti.
Seriously, anyone have any luck with the software to transfer ringtones? I've got the cable, got a NexTel i530, and can't believe someone doesn't have and open source software package for it.
-
Is it possible to just put the tones on a web page and download them from there?
-
Can't help you guys there. Mine is bluetooth, which was a real PITA to get set up, but it works great once you get it going.

I believe so, if your carrier provides net service.
-
also, if you phone supports it, you can message a ringtone to it.
My phone doesn't support much, it's a cheap nokia. But if I got a data cable for it I could do a bunch of stuff. You can usually find data cables on ebay for cheap.
-
It is not included as part of my service package but yes, my phone can get on the net and browse web pages. I have to pay by the meg or something though.

My phone is a Samsung...
Hey Chad (or anyone else)....I got 2 data cables for Pc to Cell phone link. I got a package given to me of software and 3 cables...Only one cable is designed for my particular phone. Why they provide cables for different phones in one package ,i don't know.
Anyway, the 2 cables i have only have 2 and 3 models listed but they fit many more. Models listed are Samsung A530, A600, VGA1000 or Samsung V205, E105. Like i said it'll fit more.
the product is "futuredial" here is the link to what it does.+ http://www.futuredial.com/Products/Suite/P_Suite.htm.
My particular phone you can manage ringtones, pics and contacts and load them via the PC. I am unsure the capabilities of others.
Anyone is welcome to either of these 2 cables.

We would like to apologise for all the m00sE references in this thread. The people responsible for the m00sE references have just been sacked. We now return you to the forum.

I looked at my phone the other day... the model # starts with x, but I forget what it is now.
It seems that this phone will run any java app it has resources for, as it has 3-4 games built in. I played a couple holes of golf.
I still don't see any port for a cable, though, other than the recharge socket.

Found this site that seems to have a lot of video game tunes.

That's where these data cable goes into should it fit your phone. One end goes in the same spot

OIC.

My mother and sister have the same phone Chad. IIRC, there's a ton of cheap cables for em on eBay if you want to spend a few bucks. They're pretty decent phones, but IIRC, they don't do mp3s.... polyphonic only.

What OS are you using? I've got to see if I've got all the stuff for XP to put back on my PC, but I have piles of games, apps, and ringtones for you, and can point you in the right direction if I don't have the software handy.
Thinking about it, you've got the 530, so just a grayscale screen, right? If so, all you'll be able to do is ringtones. I've got the 730 and modded just about everything except the Direct Connect keys.
