Ok
I have 2 California Speed games.I was told they are Med. Rez. Monitors. It has no monitors in it at this time.
I found some dip sw. that said I could set the video at
Graphics Mode 400x256 15KHz
Graphics Mode 512x256 15KHz
Graphics Mode 512x384 25KHz
Graphics Mode 512x384 31KHz
-
15khz is standard, 25khz is medium, 31khz is vga
-
Thanks.I saw that in the monitor help but I needed to make sure. What should I set my speed at?
Thanks
-
Check the manual and see what they advise in there.
-
I wish it was that easy.Does not say.
-
According to the Wells-Gardner site, California Speed was originally shipped from the factory with Wells-Gardner model WGM2575-U4GS27J (25", k7500, medium res).
So look for a "Universal" mounting frame, 25" medium res (25khz) monitor for it.

Ok.I pluged in a Standard Rez monitor into my game.It poped the fuse.It did not pop the fuse before pluging into the game. Now the fuse pops all the time.Even not pluged into game.HELP Please. It is a WG 25 inch K7000.
-
Well you may have damaged the monitor, the gameboard and the power supply all at once in a fraction of a second. You plugged in a monitor that MUST HAVE AN ISOLATION TRANSFORMER into a game that uses a monitor without an isolation transformer.
The monitor I mentioned that was shipped with the game is a k7500 medium res with a built-in switching power supply so an isolation transformer is not required with that model. There is no isolation transformer in the game cabinet.
-
Thanks.
Would a u5000 work?
-
Yes, a U-5000 will work. It is the trouble-prone predessesor to the k7500 and is medium res (does not need an isolation transformer).
-
Ok now another question. Can I take a Standard Rez. monitor and buy a new k7500 upgrade boards from WG and put it on them?I found the parts on WG.Kit K75 25
-
That "kit" was issued for one specific purpose: to convert the U-5000 into a K7500.

Thanks for your help.Would you know a good place for flowcharts on monitors?
I was using http://slot-tech-ftp.serveftp.com:8080/ but it is not working.
Will the neotec monitor work?(http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49054600.htm)
I can get them for 400.00 new.Or would you get the WGD9200?
Thanks for all your help
again

Randy Fromm's site (the URL you posted) has a bad server. It has been down for awhile and I don't think he'll have it back operational until January sometime.
According to the information I posted earlier from Wells-Gardner's site, your game was designed for a 25" monitor. I don't know if a 27" will fit your cabinet.
BTW, the Wells 9200 series has problems (besides being way overpriced).
-
It will fit.Just was wondering if it would be a plug and play monitor.
Thanks
Pete
