Hi all,
Just wondering what people with 2-player cabs think about having 4-player games in their rom set. To me, it seems weird to have players 3 and 4 always blinking "Join In" when there are not controls for them! So, part of me wants to just not even play those games on my cab. And it's not just 4-player games, its the handful of 3-player games too -- like Rampage, a really fun one. What do most people do? Just not worry about it? (And don't say, "just build a 4-player cab too!" which is obviously the best answer but not in the cards for me at this time :) )

Just get a couple USB controllers and have them set aside somewhere. If you ever need 4 people to play, hook them up and go. Thats how most people do it.

Alot of games allow you to set the number of players to match the cab, and others have 2-P versions that were used in conversion kits.
On the ones that were switchable, there is usually a dipswitch set that controls it.
I've got an Atomic Punk PCB (4-P Bomberman) that I use quite often in my 2-P JAMMA cab, and have the dipswitches set so that it appears to be a 2-P game.

Go for the 2P versions of the games if you can. The advantage usually is that you get to choose your player from the 4, rather than being stuck with the player associated with the start button you press.

Good ideas! I've noticed some games with dip settings to select number of players, but I hadn't thought of the usb game controller idea. Thanks guys,
Eric.
