Title: RoadRunner Controls weird?
Post by: eyal8r on November 25, 2005, 11:22:00 am
I am trying to play Road Runner- and the joystick controls are really weird. They work in the correct directions (ie- left, right, up, down), but- there's no in between. When I go up, he goes all the way up. Down, all the way down. You can't just tap down and have roadrunner move down a little bit. You tap down and he goes all the way to the bottom. Likewise- going left/right for speed control. You go left (forward) and he's at full speed. Go right, he reverses directions and goes full speed.  It's weird- there's no inbetween on these controls- it's all one way or another. Makes it tough to pick up bird seed in the middle of the road when you have to swing all the way up, and all the way down to try to catch it at just hte right time.

How do I correct this guys?
Thanks

road runner at maws (http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/roadrunn)
It says in the description to aviod using the 8-way joystick, but use a flight stick.

yeah, tried that too. Weird thing- as soon as it starts, whether I touch the flight stick or not, the RR goes straight up to the top of the road and you can't pull him in any direction. I'll try it some more, but- it wasn't working AT ALL with the FS...
Thanks

Sounds like its not calibrated. Can't remember if there is calibration in the game - there probably is. Delete the roadrunner nvram file (in your nvram folder) and run it, see if a calibration screen pops up, or turn on the service dip switch.....

Worked OK last time I tried it with my 49-way.

When someone said use a flight stick they really meant analog stick - make sure you don't use an 8-way.
