I've updated my webpage with new pics of the Q25. Should be of interest to those who like unusual Japanese cabs, you don't see many of these and I've put a lot of time in to getting this up and going.

Thanks!

Cool ive never seen one of these.
I love those Q sound speaker grills and the design of the side panels.
Pretty slick looking CPO also, nice job!

Very nice indeed. I didn't realise you could pick up those cabs so cheaply in the UK.
Ultimately I prefer the look of old school cabs but I have to admit the modern Japanese cabs are much more practical and comfortable to play on. As I get older the idea of playing games standing up gets less appealing.

I think I got very lucky with the cab's price, it would normally go for much more I'd imagine. However, it was in bad condition and needed a lot of work to get cleaned up.
I tend not to like plastic looking Japanese cabs myself, but this one just has character, with the sharp lines and box-ish appearance.
Glad you guys like it, thanks for the feedback!

That is a nice cabinet! I have been wanting to pick one up just to put Street Fighter in there and make it feel official.
Like SaiNRuB said, those Q sound speaker grills look nice.
This cabinet has become a bit less common around here, but I hope I can find one for a good price.
Nice restoration job too! ;) Your cabinet looks amazing... :o

Hey, Nice site. I recently bought the same exact cab here in NY. I have been trying to find some about this cab (I recently made a post about it). Do you think you can tell me how you opened the cp? How does it come off? Does the whole thing come apart or does it have hinges? How hard was it to take the whole cab apart? I'm also thinking about restoring it. Do you a picture of the pc amp you used to connect the speakers to the computer? Thanks alot.

One question at a time mate ;)
Taking the CP off - not too hard. Lift the monitor hood and you'll see two metal clips facing the monitor under the CP. Push them in and you can now move back the top of the CP. It may be tricky to slide it off and may need a screw driver wedged in the gap. Make sure you unplug the wire interfaces for player 1 and 2 before fullying taking it off (you'll know them when you see it).
After that, the rest comes off by removing lots of screws, as seen on my site. Just note what screw goes where!
Taking the whole cab apart takes a good few hours, mainly because you area always finding new screws. Just go slow. I had to take the monitor out myself, be careful here it is very heavy and awkward and you'd benefit from having some help.
The PC amp was easy. It's literally a standard subwoofer / amp which had two speakers you connected with standard phono leads. Buy a couple of phono plugs, cut the cab speakers at the bottom [where they'd plug in to the Q-Sound amp] so you just have wire, and wire them in to the phono plugs. Easy. Can't recall but I think the earth is the outer casing on the phono plugs. I guess you should watch impedence and check the amp matches the ohms of the speakers, but I didn't and they work fine for me.
Good luck, and more questions please post them, and keep us updated of your progress!

PS - in reply to other posts, I also really like the Q-Sound grills. I had them repainted as they were faded and a little rough in places, I think it really makes the cab stand out ;D

Good luck there mate! I was originally working to a time limit, but that went out the window. The more I got done, the more there was to do, but stick with it and you'll get there!
Hope you had some help with that monitor, mine's only 25" and it nearly killed me. Feel that hernia :P
Glad you liked the site, hope to do a few more general gaming articles when I have time, maybe one every couple of weeks, so please check back from time to time.
