Here is my travel control panel. I copied the design from Markrvp. Here is the link to his design.

I used the same construction method as the Bubble Bobble Marquee light box. I screwed the front and back pieces to some blocking before I cut them down to size, then I laminated them with formica and put them on my table saw so that everything would be flush.
The sides were laminated on the inside first then screwed onto the blocking already attached to the front and back pieces. Then I laminated the outside of the sides. I was using 5/8" mdf and I laminated both sides so that the 3/4" t-mold would be a perfect fit.
For the blocking at the four corners I left a gap of 1/8" at the bottom. I was trying to keep the weight down and figured I could get away with 1/8" wood as the base of the box. I also used the blocking at the corners to insert my dowels. I bought a dowel system for like $5 where you drill the first two holes then you put these little metal punches in the holes, line up the other piece of wood on top and tap it with a hammer, those little punches leave a mark on your new piece of wood and you drill those marks an everything lines up.

I'm using a Happ 49 way and a top fire right now. I'm thinking of changing out the top fire for a Wico. I have a ball top replacement stick for the 49 way also (www.groovygamegear.com)
Thats a SlikStik Tornado Spinner and the Happ 3" TB
I threw an IPAC in there even though I didnt need it because A) I had it and B) I like it for Admin buttons, Esc, tab, etc.
I also added the Ultimarc LED that attaches to the IPAC. (its at the top between two black buttons)

On the back I used a Cord hole from a desk. It was a little too long and I had to use a dremel to cut off escess on the inside.

It still needs another coat of black paint on the edges and it need some nice wiring.
But I need help with the artwork. I dont know if I want to rip off Markrvp entirely ;D Can anyone suggest something, maybe something from the Arcade Art Library?
I will have to customize it a bit for the Admin buttons at the top left.
Or maybe I'll just use button stickers.
Thanks Markrvp for a great layout.

There are a huge amount of admin buttons. Can you advise what they are all for?
It is a very neat looking build by the way.

It looks great, Timoe!
Bones:
When I did my CP like this one of the things I had in mind was that I would set up all the individual game .ini files using it. Therefore I put in all the admin buttons I normally use: TAB, ENTER, ESC, PAUSE, F2 (advance), F3 (reset). As Timoe pointed out it's much nicer to connect these to an Ipac (or Keywiz) as mapping them to the GP-49 doesn't work if you unplug the GP-Wiz 49 and go to a keyboard encoder and then plug the GP-Wiz 49 back in.
Timoe: If I had the Ipac on my panel I would hook all the buttons and P2 joy to it and let the GP-Wiz 49 only be hooked up to the 49-way itself. This would provide the least amount of hassle mapping things in MAME.
