Hi! I'm looking for recommendations on a good arcade joystick. I've looked at Ozstick, Hanaho's stick, and X-Arcade's stick. They all seem very nice, but the price is just too much. I'd like to buy a joystick that would either be a gameport or a USB joystick, and have the SF2 six button style. If it has buttons that can be programmed to player 1, start, and insert coin, great, but that's not totally necessary.
If someone has an old homemade joystick that still works that they'd like to sell me, please let me know. If you know of any retail joysticks that have this, please shoot me a link. I'm thinking of making my own, but I wanted to try this first. Looks don't matter to me. I just want something that will let me dragon punch to my heart's content! :)
Thanks!
Keith

That looks pretty much like what I was looking for. Does it use a gameport or USB? If you don't get my PM, how much would you want for it?
BTW, I went to your site, and I think Tripod's freaking out about your background. All I see are clock images.
Thanks!

If your looking for a 2 player panel then add up the cost of building your own plus some labor and the x-arcades $150 is tough to beat.
One major expense in a control panel is the interface. You can hack a $1 joypad or you can do it right with a keyboard encoder for around $50.
Theres nothing wrong with snakes stick but make sure you know what your buying before you buy it. If its some type of joypad hack make sure you are aware of the joypad limitations before you purchase it. A joypad will work with Mame but not as well for other games or emulators and make sure its going to work in the OS that your planning to use.

i aint selling him this..we talked..however here is something interesting..
YOU CAN BEAT x-arcade..
You buy parts from them and a dual can be done under $50..
$20 for 2 sticks and 20 buttons.
another $30 for wood,laminate,plexi,gamepad. ;D

The interface is the most expensive component. Thats either $50 or $60 for theirs. Gamepad hack can be done on the cheap but it has its limitations and I'd say most people can't or won't do it.
You can't compare a gamepad hacked stick to a keyboard encoder in terms of functionality when your comparing cost.
Of course the keywhiz at $27 is going to make the pad hackers think twice about hacking up USB game pads. I don't think anyone can make a interface to compete with the sub $5 joypads that fell off the back of a truck market.
I will also concede to you that for multi console compatability the pad hack is the only way to go.
