Title: second time around
Post by: maxlamer on November 21, 2005, 03:28:37 am
Being new around here i thought i'd start by showing the current progress on my new cabinet, wasn't happy with the first one i built so i've started from scratch.

This time around i have set it up so that i can easily flip the monitor between horizontal and verticle, and interchangeable control panels. I always wanted the cabinet to look somewhat authentic so a cluttered (frankenpanel) control panel was out of the question.  Also this one will have coin mech's and a cashbox

Now for some pictures

My first cabinet, once the new cabinet is almost there i will remove all the components and pass this one onto a mate.

Well i have the cabinet in side now, the monitor is mounted in the rotateable frame
The rotateable frame slides into runners in the cabinet, it has to be perfectly square to work properly and it took a lot of hassle to get it that way.  Ive since thought up a better easier way to do it too  ::)

Now i have tryed the moniter in both orientations and rotateing to verticle screwed with the colours in the corners, rotateing it back after running the monitor screwed the colours in horizontal mode.  Looks like ill have to invest in a degausing wand if im going to be useing it in both modes, it is a just a cheap television after all.

Screen in both horizontal and verticle mode

Desided not to paint the cabinet but rather use a vynal finish, has a checkerplate finish and will do nicely with "metal slug" graphics

Been away from the project for a week now due to other comitments, just bought a degausing wand and now the colours corrected themselves before useing the wand :o

anyways, i should have the 4 player control panel completed soon
