Title: PSX pad to Ipac help!
Post by: Cilrider on January 26, 2003, 12:34:58 am
 ???-This is on the Ipac messageboard to  ;)
So im hacking a PSX controller and wiring it to my arcade right? So I have everything wired to the joysticks/buttons (etc). and it works fine. The only problem I am having is when I go from my ipac to the barrier strip it acts like theres a current running through it and its just a constant "s" or an "a". Anyone understand what im trying to say? Long story short...Wire goes from button 1,2,3 etc on the Ipac to X,O,TRI,SQ on the barrier strip. Whenever I connect them it acts like a constant press is being pushed down.  ??? ??? >:(

Any thoughts.....if anyone can help I have some pics of it I can send. thank you.!

Or maybe if anyone knows how to wire a switch (pics would be awesome).  A switch so I can switch between the IPAC and PSX....(printer switchter maybe?!?)

If I understand you correctly, you have...

Joysticks/Buttons  --->  PSX controller  --->  I-PAC  --->  PC

OR do you have

Joysticks/Buttons  --->  PSX controller  --->  PC

AND

Joystick/Buttons  --->  I-PAC  --->  PC

In either case, I guess I don't understand what you are gaining by using two different interfaces (I-PAC & PSX) to connect your controls to your pc.  I think you would just run into problems by trying to do this, and from your post it seems that you are.

(Also when I press down my buttons on 1 and 2..they output the same button  [ex: a,s]>:(.......(ahhh so many problems!)
Im using my arcade controls for MAME and PSX
(What im doing marked with '*')
So whenever I touch a wire from the barrier strip to the ipac I get a constant continuity......like its being held down.
Your first one...like this :

(0)(*0*)(0)(0)barrier strip)                    (*0*)(0)IPAC4)

How?

arcade controls to a db25 plug.  then a ahcked psx controller will have one end of the plug and the ipac the other end of the plug.

That is EXACTLY what i was gonna post..except i was thinking molex connecter but DB25 should be better(less work).
