Title: anyone know what this 50-60hz dial does?
Post by: arcadepcnut on January 25, 2003, 11:14:30 pm
I have this dial on my wellsgardner monitor that is right above the horz. hold. It says 50-60hz. Thats all. Turning it yields nothing noticable. ??!!

It interacts with the vertical size control and gives you a little bit more compression/expansion. Think of it as a very fine adjustment.

That dial saved my arcade vga from getting tossed in the trash.

It's smaller than all the other controls on the monitor so it's very easy to overlook it.

On my Wells Gardner k7191, certain resolutions were appearing really messed up.  I've read a few people who have had the same problem.  The image for Ms. PacMan, for one example, would "curl" at the bottom of the screen, making the game very ugly.  (If you've seen it then you will know what I'm talking about).  Adjusting the 50-60 Hz knob fixed the problem.
