Title: picking up your phone and getting charged?
Post by: duffjr on November 17, 2005, 09:50:34 pm
ok, if i pick up my phone and i don't get long distance, and it's a call from someone from Asia or something, will i get a huge bill a month later?  i thought the caller would get charged, and you'd get charged for minutes.

You may end up married to an Asian chick, or possibly the more popular Russian brides. Keep picking up the phone!

so if i have a phone card, and someone has to call me long distance, do i need to go to a payphone and answer the call there using the phone card.  i really missed out on the grounded phone area.  i'm not even sure i know how to answer one of those old phones.

To answer, you take the phone, lube it up, and do something patently obscene with it.

???

If you only have a phone card, what number do they use to call you?

Do you mean you use a phone card to make long distance calls?
If thats the case, the phone card has nothing to do with the equation.
I ASSume you are in the US.  If so, calls going to you dont get charge.
Unless its a collect call and you said yes to the operator for connecting.

If he has a prepaid cell, he does have a card and a phone, and will get charged minutes if he answers.

I never answer my home or cell phone unless I know the number on the caller ID.

I never answer my home or cell phone unless I know the number on the caller ID.

Even then I only answer it if it's my wife.  Other than that, people can leave a message if they want and maybe I'll check the voicemail later.

I don't have voicemail or an answering machine. If they want to talk to me that bad they can call back when I feel like answering the phone.

Sheesh guy, could you make any less sense? If we're talking about land lines then the long distance charges are applied to the caller, unless it's a collect call.  If we're talking about cell phones then minutes are used by both parties, regardless of who made the call.
