Title: Saint's book looks like THIS book . . .
Post by: AC. on November 16, 2005, 08:39:06 pm
I have a small collection of game / coin-op / arcade books and noticed the similarity. 'Course they are by the same publisher.

I noticed another book by the publisher that looked the same - don't remember what it was, but it was blue-tinged instead of yellow-tinged.  I liked the coloring better, but what are ya gonna do, right? ;)

the entire "ExtremeTech" series by the publisher is the same format.  They have quite a few books, a few of which interest me quite a bit, but I've only picked Saint's up so far.

That console hacking books is written by the guy at benheck.com IIRC.  Go check out his new Atari 800XE laptop if you haven't... it's awesome.

I've got another one of their books called PC TOYS (greenish cover).  Most of the projects are ones that most cab-builder-mame-user could figure out themselves. Like:
Making an MP3 or CD jukebox
Networked Video Games
TiVo like recorder

.....or the one I'll definately waste time and money on, something I never gave a ---Cleveland steamer--- about doing, making a:
Fridge and Freezer Monitor

Before I bought the book I was mostly clueless on the building / ipac / buttons / joystick stuff etc.  . . . and now I still don't know what it means.

But see, you have to read the book. It's a very crucial, yet often overlooked step. ;)

yup... its true.

Just sitting on top of the book or putting it on a shelf wont do it.  And make sure you're not trying to actually USE the book to build your cab.  I found it rather difficult to cut through the MDF with the book ;)

You can also try hitting yourself in the head with the book in hopes that some of it's wisdom might seep in. It won't, but the rest of us will really enjoy viewing the video.

I see. So, having it under my couch cushions while I watch  QVC won't work in an osmosis-like way? That bites.

You could try eating the book.

I tried that. It wouldn't fit in the blender

I recomend a mixture of three parts brake fluid and one part Canadian pennies.
