So, I'm coming back from Boston to Albany, NY and I have to stop at a rest station in Springfield on the Mass Pike. After I grab a soda, I happen to notice the vending area which normally has a couple of vending machines and an arcade game or two.
They actually had a pinball machine there: Fish Tales. Not a bad game. However after I put in the coins to play, I notice the speakers are either broken or turned off. I was a little disappointed, but still not a bad pin.
Massachusetts isn't so backwards as Chad would lead you to believe...
:D

A thirteen year old fishing pin, with broken or turned off speakers isn't "backwards" to you??
;D

There are very few pins left on location here... rest stops tend to have those 50 cent Ms Pac/Galaga cabs.

Yup - saw that on the way out. Those are pretty small though. Being 6' that's a bit of a stoop for me to play. Watched a 12 year old kid play for a while, was just right for his height.

The have purty monitors, though.

Funny. I just had a guy come out this way yesterday from Albany. I swear he said he saw a Monopoly at a stop on the way out.
-
I've never played a Monopoly.

Quite a few bars still have the pins here. I was just at one in Wrentham,MA that had a Terminator pin with 2 credits waiting for me....you had to be there, but it was hilarious. First thing my wife says to me as we walk in before i even see the game was "and i'm not giving you any quarters were not staying long!". So i look over at the game with a nice flashing beacon on the front ...nice and bright. I said with a slight grin "that's Ok", walked over without hesitation and pushed the pretty flashing button and started playing. i loved it....a very subtle "up yours" for me.
on the pac/man galaga. i always thought it strange but an arcade/ family restaurant here has one. They keep it seperate from all the other games though. They keep it in a totally seperate area actually, with the ticket redemption, change and crane machines. i see kids playing it all the time though....mostly younger. they are the perfect height.

Where? I live a mile from Wrentham.

the terminator pin is at the Anvil, just a few steps from Toms Tavern on 1A, i believe. Just a local bar.
I'll check the place out. I hate bars but can tolerate to play a good pin. I live minutes from there. I've never been to Tom's. Any games in there?
Johnny macs in attleboro had an Addams Family pin...new ownership though. i'm interested to see if it is still there.
If you tell me where in Attleboro I will check it out.
my favorite place to get my fix is Papa Ginos in plainville on 152 ...not for a pin though. They have a working Area 51 . Both guns work and are actually accurate for a change.
Yeah, but don't play the cabs by the bathrooms. They NEVER work. I take my kids there often because AAA will pay for kids' meals there with an adult purchase. The cabs by the bathroom always have very pretty monitors, are on, but always out of order.
OH...if you ever feel like camping for a weekend, head to Normandy Farms in foxboro. They got a chincy arcade, but they have 2 or 3 pins there too(along with an Area 51 that never works right). i know theres another pin here somewhere ,just can't picture who has it...i'm out of Mansfield, so not far from you at all.
jay
I'll look that place up... thanks for the tip. Maybe if we don't camp there we can still sneak in and play the pins.

This summer I was able to buy a dedicated bud tapper from a bar on the cape for $100 ;D. Just 2 things wrong with it: the GO7 need a new coil resister to fix the vertical deflection, and it had no Audio Amp board. all in all, easy fixes. So yeah, Mass ain't so bad :)
