Post by: BlackFox on November 11, 2005, 04:40:42 pm
ive already gone to google and searched through the forums to see if i could find anyone having the same problem. minwah has suggested the [showdosbox] flag all the time and that helped however im still having issues with two of my emulators launching games.
gensfe, ive got it to where the emulator loads but its not leading my game, heres a copy of my ini file. (im running mamewah 1.61)
[code]### Genesis.ini (mamewah v1.61) ###

try changing the rom extension from zip to bin.

Copy of the relevant part of my working gensfe ini below if it helps at all.

### List Generation Settings ###
rom_path                                  C:\wgensFE\roms
rom_extension                             bin
dat_file
nms_file
catver_ini_file
list_generation_method                    rom_folder

### Execution Settings ###
emulator_executable                       C:\wgensFE\gensFE.exe
commandline_format                        [rompath]/[name].[romext]
alt_commandline_format_1                  [name]{autodosbox}{nosafelaunch}
alt_commandline_format_2                  [name]{autodosbox}{nosafelaunch}
game_specific_config_path

notice that in my commandline format line it uses a forward slash and there is no entry for {autodosbox}{nosafelaunch} there are also no quote marks on this line in my ini. Try doing the same and see if makes any difference.

Also try unzipping a couple of your roms, change the extension to bin and see if they work. If it does then just unpack the rest.

I set this up months ago but all the roms for my other emu's are zipped so I must have unpacked these ones for a reason although I can't for the life of me remember why. Maybe there was a compatability issue with gensfe and zipped roms?.

Perhaps copy and paste the section of my ini that I posted and just change the rom and emu paths to match yours?.

already tried it, fowards and backwards slashes, with and without quotations. i have to keep the safelaunch and dosbox on or else the emulator wont boot, i also did the bin thing and its the same thing. i know its not the emulator its just what mamewah is telling to to look for is ---fouled up beyond all recognition---, and i cant figure out how in the hell to fix it
im going to keep tinkering with it though, luckily i got fceu working and now i just gotta get mekaw working with my mastersystem and gamegear roms.

alright, i finnaly got it working, now im just wondering how i can make different lists for the different folders i have (USA, Europe, Japan, etc... [yes, i used goodtools])
i cant figure that one out, do i have to make new emulator ini's? because i cant seem to get the different lists to point to different folders

As a rule all your roms should be in the same folder....if you want to keep them in seperate folders then yes you will need seperate emulator ini's setup.
