Hey guys,
I'm looking for a CPO or artwork for the following Mortal Kombat 1 dedicated machine. This version is the LAI machine, not the Midway cabinet, so the artwork is different.

If anyone has the artwork or even better, an original CPO that hasnt been used, I'd love to talk business.

Thought I'd answer my own post.. heres the artwork, its not measured perfectly yet, but it will be. I'm also lacking the emblem in the middle, but I'll add that once I get some high quality photos of the CP. Once I get the measurements right, I'll upload this to LocalArcade.
Special thanks to Mahuti for all the hard work vectorizing the dragons, I dont claim ANY credit on this at all. I've just added in some very minor vector shapes.
His incredible work on the Mortal Kombat Marquee can be found here.

Incidentally, its exactly the same as on the LAI cabinet.
Anyways, heres my CPO. I'd still REALLY like to get my hands on an original. If I have to get this one printed, I'll probably end up modifying it slightly since the prior owner has added the additional button for MK 3 and 4. As you can see from the original, it looks a bit dodgy with the button just added on.
<EDITED BY gs0uL> NEW UPDATED ARTWORK FURTHER DOWN POST!!

Heres some more pics of the cabinet for anyone who's interested.
I'm taking posession of this on Sunday, so I'll post some more pics after that.

Found the MK dragon logo in vector (eps) format:

(I've been looking for that for months!) :D

Really? It's been right here in this file (http://localarcade.com/arcade_art/details.php?image_id=258) the entire time.
-
No, not the marquee... just the dragon logo by itself.
I picked up a MK PCB for the cost of postage 8), & am building a Supergun to use it with.
Planning on using a PC case to put everything in & wanted the logo to stick/paint on it.
-
Adeptus... follow along. :P
You open the file, and copy the dragon logo out. That's how vector stuff works. Easy man. :D
Anyway, sounds like the point is moot.

Mahuti,
Do you have any idea how I could replicate the splatter/gradient that is seen in the art on my cabinet?
I tried using the cross-hatch filter in Illustrator, but it just doesnt look the same.
-
I have a few ideas. I think I may have done something like that before.
Can you get me a closeup on that spatter effect?
-
Dont have my camera with me, but heres a great example I knocked up in Photoshop.

Heres the link if this forum squeezes it too much.

Easy to do in photoshop, but I dont know if its possible in illustrator.
In PS, its just an airbrush effect with Flow turned way down. The gradient has to be created manually though.

I guess the artwork may have been screen printed rather than process printed.
The artwork is also on a hard/flexible plastic, as opposed to vinyl.
Thats part of the reason I want the original art so bad.

Back in the day, they were either using early vs of photoshop / illustrator, or more likely, somebody airbrushed the original art. They might have used a real airbrush for that effect, or a combination of airbrush and these cool sticky masks that us illustrators used to use.. can't remember what they're called, dang they were handy though. You could just buy a sheet of halftone dots and rub them down. They had masking ones, and ink transfer types. Can't find them now though :-/ Even back in 95 I couldn't find them any more. People were already going digital.

Okay,
I've improved the above DRAMATICALLY it's now almost a perfect replica.
I've uploaded the completed CPO to Localarcade

Might make a nice difference to the incredibly busy Midway CPO designs out there for anyone wanting to build there own Mortal Kombat cabinet.
Trust me, the LAI machine is far less busy and in my opinion superior in alot of ways.
Let me know if you use this on a cab, I'd love to see it.
