I just got a machine, i need to take out the monitor to make it lighter to get it down the stairs.
What do i do? what do i need to be careful of? Its a mortal kombat 2 cab.

In general:
1. Unplug the video signal cable, the power cord, and detach the frame ground wire (if present).
2. If this is a universal frame monitor then there are 3 screws at the top and 3 screws at the bottom of the front frame. Monitor should carefully tip out of the front of the game.
3. HAVE A HELPER LIFT IT OUT. Don't break the neck of the picture tube.

Whats a frame wire ground? And how can i break the neck with lifting it using the frame.
-
I just noticed.. it comes out the FRONT? dont they come out th eback so you have something to grab?
-
How a monitor comes out depends on the particular cabinet. In general, most monitors are removed from the front. When you start to tip it coming out from the cabinet you can bang the neck of the tube against the cabinet and bust it. You carry the monitor with the face of the picture tube against your chest so BE VERY CAREFUL.
There should be a green ground wire attached to the mounting frame of the monitor you need to detach. It may or may not be present on the monitor/cabinet you have.

Thanks alot, maybe i can get some pictures up tonight before i do it for help ;) Probably around 7 or 8

I dont have to discharge it.. correct?
-
nah, just be very careful as to what you are touching. I switched out an arcade monitor for a decased tv last night without issue.
-
Is there something i can touch from the bottom that could cause a problem
-
His cabinet is a "cut-corner" Dynamo. That should help people give the correct advice...

I didnt take it out and deadlifted it.
It was damn heavy. When i take it back up the stairs (hopefully not anytime soon) i will remove the monitor for sure!
