Dont know if this helps you or anyone else who views but it doesn't look like it has auto degaus, although I'm probably wrong!

I dont know if arcade monitors look like a PC monitor when they degaus but mine doesn't appear to either.

in docs for MTC9000 it states it should degauss on startup and also by using the optionally connect pushbutton

http://www.mikesarcade.com/arcade/monitors.html

maybe i should check fuse F2 which relates to the degaussing

if its not the fuse any other ideas?

The PTC controls the auto degauss. Of course the degauss coil itself may have gone bad too. If the coil were shorted then the fuse would blow. If the coil were open then simply nothing would happen.

There should be a gren plug the same colour, two pin as the one the degaus wires come out of. If thats not got a bridge on it the monitor wont auto degaus. As far as I can tell the degaus circuit is controlled by the thermistor P34. If it is open circuit the thermistor won't get voltage to operate the circuit. Check fuse first though and your 220V accross pin 3 and 4.
I'm not very experienced in monitors, I do auto electrics nice safe 12V stuff. Please wait for someone to confirm this or just use a degaussing push button.  ;)

Edit: Ken Layton types quicker than me!.. Is the above correct?

I dont think you need to short them.. it states the monitor comes with an "optional" push button you can install or leave it.. though I could be wrong, so I'm not sure!
One of my MTC 9000 models has the 2nd connector blank, no wire shorting it - I dont know if it auto degausses or not, but there isnt any discoloration or anything. The other one is one of the "unpublished" ones - no push button option on there, though the degaussing coil is cut anyway
