Title: What does "CHD" stand for?
Post by: topalwaysdown on October 31, 2005, 09:30:23 pm
I see people talking about "CHD games" but I don't know what that is.

Thanks,

Compressed hard drive.

They are needed for arcade games that originally had a hard drive in the cabinet.

Technically it's Compressed Hunks of Data, not Compressed Hard Drive, but it means the same thing.

It used to mean Compressed Hard Disk, then they added a couple of games that used CD-Roms and emulated using CHD files; so the name didn't make complete sense anymore and they changed it to Compressed Hunks of Data.

Why do I know this? Is this useless knowledge pushing needed stuff out of my brain?  ???
