Paging Saint (or anyone else using this monitor)...
I've purchased this monitor and am using it for my cab. However, upon unpacking it, I noticed that it did not have a power cord. I called Happ and they are sending me one. However, I'm not sure what all of the various connectors on the monitor are for. I posted a thread stating such over in the monitor forum - http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=45081 but didn't know if anyone here in the book forum makes it over there very much...
Anyways - I'd appreciate if anyone who has used this monitor could read through that thread and comment as to what their monitor shipped with and how you hooked it up (excluding the VGA connector - I've got that one pegged... ;)). I.e. - what did you do for a power switch, etc.?

Heres what you need to do:
To wire up a power switch:You will first need
-Buy a single pole toggle switch 10amp from home depot - costs about $4
-Buy 18 gauge red/ black speaker wire (one wire is red the other is red/black) $5
- you may also want to purchase a new 8' power cord with ground $9
What you need to do:
- First find a place to mount the switch- make sure it is out of view, you dont want a switch to make your cabinet look ugly..
- Next take the black wire from the power cord and connect it to the black/red wire(speaker wire). connect the other end ( red/black wire to the switch (on position). Next connect the red speaker wire to the switch (off) and the other end of the red speaker wire to the black wire to the power supply. Basically what you are doing is interupting the current flow on the balck wire to control its power with the switch...
I have wired up a few cabinets with 100% success. I even add electrical outlets to the cabinets sometimes also. The method to wire up an out let is the same except the black wire goes to the switch, then you can make a wire to your power supply from your outlet

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the long time in a reply - I've been busy working on my cab and haven't been on the board in quite some time. In regards to the original question I wound up using a Smartstrip for the monitor and the rest of the cabinet electronics. The Happ is on all the time it is plugged in, so the smartstrip makes for a very easy power switch. I wound up using a Happ button and a microswitch and wired it to one of the DIPs on the motherboard, so that when I click the button, the whole shooting match fires up or shuts down.
