Title: Question about ipac4 setup
Post by: Abomination on October 30, 2005, 12:33:08 pm
Ok i have my control panel wired up to the ipac4 and Im 99% sure that part was done correctly.  My problem lies in programing that sucker.  It looks very simple but for some reason I just cant do it right.  I created the custom control panel part and told it where each item was wired and saved that.  My problem is in the actuall button assignments.  The first problem is It shows on the screen on a few buttons when I push one a totaly unrelated button will be depressed at the same time.  I thought maybe that some of the wires were touching each other but they are not even on simmilar parts of the ipac (player 3 button 4 and player 4 button 3 are somehow joined)  So then I checked software and they are assigned to different keys, and when that key on the keyboard is pressed only the indevidual button is depressed on the screen.

Anyone have any idea what im screwing up?

Is it a fairly new ipac4 and uses the latest winipac for programming?  The older ipac4 requires the older winipac program and the board has a jumper to enable the use of standard mame default or programmed inputs.  Remember the ipac4 will output whatever keycodes that are programmed to the chip - not necessarily what the winipac program is displaying.

I recommend opening up notepad and just pressing each button in succession.  Do these relate to the mame default buttons
Arrow Keys   Controller (Player 1)
Left Ctrl   Fire 1 (Player 1)
Left Alt   Fire 2 (Player 1)
Space   Fire 3 (Player 1)
Left Shift   Fire 4 (Player 1)
Z   Fire 5 (Player 1)
X   Fire 6(Player 1)
R,F,G,D    Controller (Player 2)
A   Fire 1 (Player 2)
S   Fire 2 (Player 2)
Q   Fire 3 (Player 2)
W   Fire 4 (Player 2)
