Title: a solution for analogue controls (pots) to PC input (ps/2, usb, etc)?
Post by: RetroJames on October 29, 2005, 11:01:51 pm
Anyone know of a solution for analog controls (pots) to PC input (ps/2, usb, etc)?

I know I saw it somewhere at one time, but cannot find it to save my life.  Someone had a site with PCBs for sale that did the trick.

You want the APAC from www.ultimarc.com.

That is one, but there is another that is better (and cheaper) for my application. I want it for one pot on an omega race spinner.  If I can't find the other I may need to go with the apac though.

Omega Race uses pots on its spinner?  How does that work?  I thought it was optical with an encoder wheel like the other spinners out there.  If it is, then you want either a mouse hack or an opti/mini-pac from Ultimarc.

One pot directly underneath.  I have done the mouse hack but it is a little buggy as I am having a hard time keeping the wheel in alignment with the sensors.

He also makes a 49-way joystick PCB - http://dave.bit2000.com/products.html

Ultimarcs is a couple dollars more, may be worth the extra bills

I don't have an APAC but I can vouch that the AKI is excellent.  I'm sure the APAC is excellent too.

How on earth did you get the spinner off the control panel??   :)

I bought an Omega Race panel in the hopes of using the spinner on it and I for the life of me could not get it off.  Had to chuck the panel (although I did keep the buttons).
