You might be able to hack a keywiz ECO 2 inside a controller, it's only 1.08 X 3.33 inches. Check it out: http://www.groovygamegear.com/Page2.html

I solved my own problem by finding a joystick to keyboard program that isn't blocked. Although now that I think about it, making a xbox controller that uses an encoder is a pretty intrestign idea, might do it anyway.

I'm actually playing this now, it's quite fun, I'm up to level 22.  My character's name is HarumaN...  go fig.   :P
