Title: Quick potentiometer question
Post by: Minwah on October 23, 2005, 02:20:57 pm
I'm just trying to add the pots from an xbox pedal set to my existing arcade pedals with 5k pots.  Problem I have is that the xbox pedals rotated the brake pot the opposite way due to the way it was mounted.

So my question is how can I make the pot work the opposite way?  From what I can tell the pot has power & gnd going to the outer pins, and another wire to the centre pin.  IIRC I just need to swap the power & gnd around - can anyone confirm?

It sounds like it will work if the pot has a linear taper.  It probably will be liinear because it is used for an analog control.   Pots in audio circuits are non linear so they do not work when wired in reverse.

Thanks.  I tried it and it works fine :)  Next problem is the gears on the pots (or the pot shafts) aren't really quite long enough...superglue might have to do here...
