don't you hate comics that are either only funny if you're cultured or completely stupid if you're smart?
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/fun/hi.asp?date=20051020
i think this actually lowered my IQ. if this isn't a joke about germans and jews, then i'm lost.
-
I think you're lost. How on earth do you think that has anything to do with Germans and Jews?

Because the kid appears to be speaking with a German accent... "I zent" rather than "I sent"... and he spilled "jooze" on his sweater.
-
maybe they are making fun of people who can't spell.
:-\
-
I think they are just making fun of the fact that most kids today are substituting "z" for "s" a lot...
Anyway you do it, kind of stupid...
-
Plus, he had a problem with jooze at The Party.
::)
-
but would anyone actually spell spell zpell? notice how he spelled so and sweater right. the article would be a tad less stupid if those had z's too. i guess the comic is for parents with young kids or grandkids.
-
Guys... they're not Z... it's a backwards S, he is not very literate...
-
I'd bet that this is an out-of-touch comic writer's attempt to make a joke of "l33t-speak".
-
no, that wouldn't make sense. he gets every letter right except the s but sometimes he's right. and they have points like they are z's.
-
Yeah, the problem is, that comic strip is just not funny.
Like that one joke:
Question: Why don't girls like The Three Stooges?
...
...
...
Answer: Because they're not funny.
-
reminds me of a similar joke:
why do girls have boobs?
so guys have something to look at when they talk to them...
not really funny but makes a point.
this comic strip is funny: http://www.comics.com/wash/pickles/

Yeah that one is . . . more funny than the last. My favs are BloomCounty, Outland, Foxtrot, Wizard of Id, Born Looser, Calvin and Hobbes.
-
Well, it's Hi and Lois. It's neither highbrow humor or redneck humor, it's just humor for the elderly or very bland folks....you know the type. You drop the funniest joke in the world on 'em, and they almost split their lip when it moves slightly upward from the nondescript arrangement it was in.
It's just a flat stupid comic strip.

If girls with big boobs work at Hooters, where do girls who are missing a leg work?
IHOP
(For those of you unfamiliar with IHOP, it stands for International House Of Pancakes. For those of you down south, it's a slightly....EVER SO SLIGHTLY....classier version of the Waffle House)
-
i don't read comics, but i would if i spent my life on the net. i'd read every one from every paper. how can you say this isn't funny: http://www.comics.com/wash/pickles/archive/pickles-20051020.html ?
-
so i said, "if this is the house of pancakes, how come i can't eat the walls?" i got one across the street. i'd say it more often if i cared about the place. i hate all their gimmicks.
-
Yeah Waffle house is ALL OVER down south. and IHOP is good too. Its funny that their name implies such grandeur....INTERNATIONAL pancakes.
-
Here's a few fer ya. Non Sequitur and Bizarro.
-
Those are good ones too. How 'bout ATARI FORCE?! They are "comics" but not funny, and for-that-matter, not real compelling either.
-

Some comedian had some semi-funny line about IHOP. If it were funny, I might have remembered what it was ;D
IHOP is the reason I love boysenberry syrup, and there isn't a better version out there than the Knott's Berry Farm version.
Somewhere out there, Chad Tower's spidey senses are tingling at making a joke about Seph and boysenberry ;)
I think back, and I just don't think the level of humor in comics nowadays is the same as it used to be. Even the political stuff of years ago tried to be funny, now, it's crap like Mallard Fillmore or the one I can't remember the name of with that black kid. Bloom County, Calvin and Hobbes, Fox Trot....those were my favorites. Now, they're done, or they're slowly going downhill (Fox Trot), while crap like Beetle Bailey and Sally Forth keeps plugging away.

I think that comedian to which you refer is Brian Regan. PaaaaAAAaaaannnnCaaAAkkkees.

nothing like waffle house just right after the bars close.............

Sure there is. Denny's. Plus, Denny's isn't regional like Waffle House is. There's toothless waitresses scattered all around the country, and Denny's seems to know where they live and build around them. Waffle House doesn't have that much ambition or drive to expand, unless you are referring to the cook's waistline. Ambition or drive would also lead to better application of soap and water in the hygene methods of most workers there too.
If any of you here happen to work at a Waffle House, please accept my apology. You may redeem it for a free bar of soap at your local K-Mart ;D

You miss the point. Denny's does most of their business at 2:15am, when all the drunks are trying to figure out where to eat.
Who cares about teeth when you are three sheets to the wind.

Can't speak for the rest of the South, but we have IHOP in Texas. The place sucks - Denny's is superior for those with a need for nasty, greasy late night dining.
Lewis Black also has a bit about IHOP being his health club. Maybe that's the one you're thinking of.
When this strip was posted to FARK several days ago, it was pointed out in the thread that the "humor" in the strip is that the kid tells the grandma that he likes the sweater, but really doesn't - hence the excuse as to why she won't see him wearing it. The "humor" isn't really in the 'Z's... Not that the actual "joke" is really particularly funny, either.
-

I actually find Lewis Black hysterical, but now that you mention it, his bit does ring a bell. Now I'm reminded of the "hodle of coffee" he got. "I looked around thinking someone else was gonna be joining me"
-
so it's based on how to lie to your grandma? that makes it funnier...
