Ok so I am a DJ I am looking into buying this trivia system

I downloaded the software and I am wondering if I could make my own podium /controllers for this game
I downloaded the demo ...which is suppposed to be fully functional
This is the one I downloaded

Anyways the controllers are done using a com port (serial) I knkow I ccouuld probably make it if it were usb port .
The challenge is can/will you download the demo version and let me know what you think ...I am no computer expert.I was able to build my mame machine due to lots of guides exp[ecially those with pictures ...LOL

Well I tried it for a few minutes. Not sure about it tho. I got it to play after messing with it a bit, and I don't know if it's just the demo version or not, but when playing the gameshow 21 pictures game all the answers are "correct" ???
The directions say too "select game above, and select game select".

You probably had to have seen the rep last night at our DJ get together. The one I mentioned is the other a little diffrent and It basically like jeopardy ...you have to buzz in then the dj /mc clicks on correct or incorrect. I looked at the buzzers and said to myself there has got to be someone on this board who know how to make it happen
Anyways I am basically trying to figure out if there is a product that I can interface with the computer using a pushbutton to buzz in

OK, I downloaded this demo and even though it is defaulted for serial port control, I was able to get it to control for the most part with the keyboard. Keyboard control makes it much more easier to create your own buzzer controls. In order to make it possible to buzz in by keyboard, go to: File > Options > Key Control and put a check next to the option "Manually Ring In Players With Number Keys". Also on the main page be sure and put a check next to "Enable External Keyboard Control". With these 2 options enabled it is possible for players to buzz in by pushing the corresponding buttons (ie. Player 1 presses the "1" key to buzz in, Player 2 would press the "2" key to buzz in, etc...). The DJ/Host could then press the "Y" key for correct or the "N" key for incorrect. Some of the keys are also remappable. The only downside is the host would have to use the mouse controls to select the questions for the players.

If you go this route and use the keyboard control instead of using serial port control, you could use a keyboard interface such as the Key-Wiz (http://www.groovygamegear.com/Page5.html) or the I-Pac (http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html) or a keyboard hack (if you feel inclined to) to interface your controls to your PC and you will not be limited to this Company's Software. You could also use the buzzers on software such as Jellyvision's "You Don't Know Jack" (http://www.jellyvision.com/go.php?p=/stuff/gamez/ydkj/index.php) line of games (very excellent/fun line of Smart Arse Trivia Games. I highly recommend these.) You could also use these on the "Name That Song" (http://home.c2i.net/llin/programs.html) game.
If this is an option for you take a look at Sasquatch!'s You Don't Know Jack Contollers (http://www.arcadeparadise.org/console/ydkj2/index.html) and his Project Announcement Thread. (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=32721.0) Very excellent, DIY control hack by him and the motivation for me to build my own, which I am in the process of now. ;)
