I just bout my 27" Flat-view Emerson TV from walmart. I was planing on getting that bezel from happs, but because of inflated shipping, and the fact that I heard that if you dont De-case the Tv it probably wont fit right. I was hoping to get some feedback on somebody who has one of these.
thanks in advance

uh, talk to ponyboy abuot ordering and shipping wont be so inflated. he'd probably even be able to give you an actual quote on price, where with happ, you order and they sharge you whatever they want for shipping later.
i don't think he stocks that exact bezel, but go ahead and shoot him a note.
and sorry, i can't really give you any info on the flatscreen bezel, mine's for a regular screen. hope this helped.

well I hate to bump, but I really need more info on this because I was hoping to have made this purchase by now.
MY main questions are, Do you need to de-case all TVs to get the bezel to fit right?
I would think you would have more leeway with a flat screen because the screen is less than 1/4" away from the casing. Or would this fact make it a perfect candidate for just cutting out a black foamboard Rectangle?
and how bad is shipping from happs, for a bezel and marquee retainer? Everyone says its bad, but i don't really know what that means, am i looking at $20 shipping, $30, or like $100 shipping?
thank you

Regarding the shipping costs from Happ...
1 - 10' section of Marquee holder and 2-27" non-flat Bezels just cost me $28 in shipping.
Luckily I plan to split the cost with a fellow builder.
I would definitely check with PonyBoy.

uh, now that you mention it, i would definatly make your own bezel. i mean, it's a flat screen right? you don't even have to cut any curves. then you wouldn't have to spend 12 dollars for a bezel or 25 bucks for shipping. and you wouldn't have to wait two weeks to get it in the mail after you ordered.

I looked through Ponyboy's thread and it appears that he does not carry bezels of any kind.

Too bad, since I need one too.

I was thinking of making one, but I am pretty sure with my skills it will look like crap. I would only be able to get a big piece of foam board, cut it to the monitor opening width, then cut the rectangular hole for the TV, I am not sure this would look so hot :-\ .

p.s. i forgot to mention i checked with ponyboy already and that he doesn't carry bezels.

I made the mistake of purchasing a Happ 27" Flat Screen Bezel for my 27" flat screen VGA monitor.
The Happ flat screen bezel is just that. Plazma screen flat or LCD screen flat.
Their normal 27" bezel fit my "Flat Sceen" CRT perfectly, and it's only $8!

That is what i was looking for. I have so little experience with all this stuff because it is my first time around, and I don't wanna pay to find out the hard way. ( yes i rhymed, deal with it). I don't see how a non-flatscreen bezel could fit a flatscreen because isn't the normal 27" bezel curved?
thank you

Yes, but so are "flatscreen" CRTs. (Hold a ruler against it to see the curve.)
I'm not sure the regular Happ Bezel will work for your tube. I only know it worked for mine.

actually my flat crt is perectly flat. so I guess that means i need to try the flat one, crap, i thoguht i had an easy way out of this. although with my flast creen i still think that a foam boad would work good enough. I wish i had a few more people step up and let me know about their flatscreen bezels.

my last attempt at finding any info, before i take the plunge and try out the $16 bezel/ $20 shipping.
i am looking for any info here,
basic fit, do i need to de-case, basic dimensions?
thank you all

make it yourself!!!
but i guess in the end it's your project, so do what you want.

I purchased the Happ 27" for my 27" flat screen from BestBuy. It is too small unless you take all the plastic casing off. However, I didn't want to do that so I went to a craft store and purchased a large black picture Matting and had the measurements for my cab width and internal opening on the bezel. The best part was the store made the cuts for me with there equipment which made perfect lines. I thin installed the bezel and then the matting on top of it and it looks fine. You can check out the construction pics on the website http://www.taborious.com the name of my cab is "The Way Back Machine"...

awesome, so let me see if i got this right,
the flat bezel fit good on your TV, but it was too small for the opening on your cab, so then you decided to buy that picture matting, and that is the flat thing you see on the sides of the TV, and the bezel is what is angling towards the TV?
my write-up is confusing but that's the best i can do.
or do i have it backwards, and the bezel is in the front and the matting is in between the TV and bezel.. tough to tell..
thank you so so much
(while looking at the other pictures it is pretty clear that the bezel is between the TV and the matting. that looks very nice, i think that is what I may go with, although, if you were to do it again, would you still buy the bezel, or just use the matting as a bezel?)

You are correct, as it looks is as it is. bezel angle to tv and matting to sides of cab. I'd do he same thing again because I haven't seen anything better without taking the tv apart...
