Title: Trackball settings to act like Spinner?
Post by: BobbyG66 on October 19, 2005, 03:15:33 pm
I just saw that X-Arcade is selling a trackball unit and advertising that it works with Breakout and Pong (Spinner games).

Is there a way to adjust/config the settings for those games to recognize just the horizontal or vertical outputs from the trackball?

I am thinking I may not need a spinner if the trackball works well...

Once I find out how to do it, will have to test the performance and playability of those type games.

Thanks for anyones help.

yes, you can tell mame to use the y axis instead of the x axis.

But after that... I have both... And I didn't really play any spinner games on my cab until I got a spinner... and I had a trackball for about a year at that point.

If you like spinner games, get a spinner.  If you like trackball games get a trackball.  If you like both, consider if you can fit both or hotswappable.

Sure the trackball can be used, but its not the same.

Also note.  Getting a spinner thats geared is much better for arkanoid and such.... So I could see getting 2 spinners and a trackball.,..

Thanks,

I tried out Arkanoid last night with the trackball.
It worked but just not the same.
I guess I will suck it up and throw down some money for a spinner.
