Title: Running ISO files on PSP from memory card
Post by: rchadd on October 19, 2005, 10:04:29 am
On a PSP with firmware 1.5 it looks like it is possible to run game ISO images direct from memory card using homebrew program called "fastloader".

I assume that running a game from memory card rather than a UMD disk would result in better battery time. Is that true?

Anybody tried this?

My roommate does this all the time.  The hardest thing he ever has to do is change around a few settings depending on the specific game... but I'm talking a few button presses here...

How big on PSP Games anyways?

UMDs are 1.8gigs.  My roommate has some games that are VERY tiny, like 200mb or so, and others that are quite large.

Ideally... you can get yourself a PSP and a 2gig Memory stick.. and um.... uh...... backup.... any game that will ever be released on the PSP.

On my 1GB chip I currently have the following loaded "Burnout Legends", "Namco Museum", "Dead to Rights" and "Star Soldier" along with a couple of albums, and some pr0n  ::)

1GB chips are dropping in price and can be had for about $70. Its not too difficult to swap chips, but then again I am waiting for the 4GB micro drive it  ;D There are some games as small as 17MB and some that take up the entire stick.

that 4gig drive looks like it is as thick as the PSP though.. I get the idea that it would kill the feel of the PSP :(  Sure looks cool though.

not for nothing, but the psp might just benfit fro those two bulbous additions, the psp is quite slim, now it has like the natural protrusions the dual shock controllers had to hold onto. it might work out more of a pro than con, better grip overall
