Take a bic pen, remove the ink tube. Using the plastic tube heat it with a lighter untill its mushy. Jam the mushy plastic into the hole over the screw, allow to harden, you now have a new bit :)

yea, I would just drill those out or use a screw extractor.

Sounds like you need a gamebit screwdriver.

I could use one of those too for future use.

Is that the right one?  They don't provide a pic of the actual head.

I look for a security bit kit. I get them at the local flea market. It's normally a 30 piece set or so. Has some very weird bits. but they work great. I wouldn't buy the gamebit, If I remember correctly the gamebit that they sell is mostly for the gamecube and it's going to be too big. I think you're better off with this http://cgi.ebay.com/33pc-SECURITY-BIT-SET-torx-hex-star-bit-screwdriver-237_W0QQitemZ6006828693QQcategoryZ50383QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Good luck!

I don't think that has the right bit.  It's kind of a "cog" shape.  Almost a reverse torx bit... almost, but with flat spots like a gear.

Seriously, if you want to do it now use this method. Thats what I did to remove the security screws on my n64.

I don't know if that would work.  There is a nut on the back of the bolt that is set in the plastic tight enough that the plastic holds it.  Any rust involved would probably snap the plastic bit.  It's worth a try though.  Especially on mine since it's rust-free  ;).

I tried taking a pic of the bolt head... then touched it up  ;).

Crazy Cooter, that is exactly what a gamebit screw driver looks like.  I've seen people use other materials besides remolded plastic to get these screws out so do whatever it takes but remember there is aways an easier way.  Good luck to you.

Cool, I wasn't sure because the pic on lik-sang didn't show it.

Np...Lik-Sang is not the only place to get it but they have reliable service and reasonable prices. If you're in the States then you can pick one up from NSC for a little less.

I'm just curious, is this a standard nes light gun? I have about five nes light guns (both the gray and the orange) and they all just have standard screws in them. If yours has security screws, it might be cheaper to buy an old one from ebay or a second hand store that has standard screws...

Mine is 100% original.  I got it from the guy that bought the vs machine new.  I don't need to take it apart yet, but I figured I could get a pic of what is needed for the original poster.  If you have regular screws, I'd say your guns have all been tuned up at some point.

The only problem I've had is that I have to let the monitor warm up for about 3-5 minutes for the shots to register accurately.

ah... I get it I was thinking the same thing as Vigo, you are talking about a Nintendo Vs gun, we were thinking a Nintendo NES gun, which has the standard phillips-head screws. Guess this is our fault since it is an arcade fourm, and not the consoles section.

What the??

How did Vigo's post get there?  It wasn't there when I posted last time... plus his timestamp is later than my response...

That's odd...

Anyhow, I should have posted that it was the arcade version.  I didn't even think about the NES gun.  My craptacular picture doesn't help either  ;).
