This may seem like a dumb question, but does anyone know of version of The Simpsons and/or TMNT that allows you to choose the character by control selection? Is there a dip switch setting I can make?
I have a 4 player CP, but only a 2 player coindoor...I would rather not have to add coin buttons.
Thank you for any information you can provide...

Just redefine the inputs for that game. Set it so that the start button also assigns a credit. Or assign it so that your credit switch gives credit to 2 players.

There is a 2p version of most of the beat-em-ups (TMNT, xmen, simpsons, etc) Thel let you choose your character.

- If you have a keyboard connected, you can press 7 or 8.
- If you are using an IPAC, you can map a shift key.
Do either of those work for you?

Yeah, but I want to play 4 player...
then you need any of the following:
- 4 player coin door
- 4 dedicated coin buttons
- 2 player coin door + 2 coin buttons for 3p and 4p
- one button that will credit all 4, but then you'll be stuck with 4 players on screen whenever you hit it even if you don't have 4 people playing.
AFAIK, all the 4p versions of these games don't allow player selection, but the 2p versions do. if you want to play 4p, you need 4 dedicated coin buttons of some type.

I have the same setup. Many of the suggestions posted will work fine. Either turn on freeplay, or in MAME assign the player 3 coin to the same button as player 3 start. Do the same for player 4. You should then be able to start and insert coins using the same button for p3+4.
