Title: NFL BLITZ ( putting back together)
Post by: BUCKETHEAD on October 12, 2005, 08:52:07 pm
My best friend purchased a NFL BLITZ ( 4 ) Player cabinet.   (Great Shape! )

The one with the GREENBAY and SAN FRAN guys on the sides ( see pic )

It is missing the 25" MONITOR , PCB  and Buttons

Everything else is there,  Even has all ( 4 ) 49 way JOYSTICKS.

And the microswitches for all the buttons still on the harness.

They just took the Buttons ??

He purchased it for $40.00

He wants to put it back together.  He loves BLITZ !

Problem is that there is a MESS of Wires all in the Bottom of it !

I can make heads and tails of some of it.

But alot of it i have no clue   ???

We hooked one of my JAMMA pcb's up to it today.  Powered it up

And you could hear it going!  So it does work!

I was wondering if anyone here has one of these games.

And could take some pictures of the inside of the cabinet

And the inside of the control Panel ?

To help me figure out where some of this stuff hooks back up?

Or point me to somewhere on the net?

To where maybe i could find some help on this?

Thanks in advance!

I only have the pcb so i can't really help but to say it seems like it works... you need a monitor first.

What's the lowest you've founed 'em?

Bertson carries the Wells Gardner K7400 for a very low price

We haven't really set down and priced any.

I know they are high.

One of my friends in the arcade business told me to stay away from

a certain WELLS GARDNER model.

He said that they were very prone to going out.

Can't remember which model he said though?

Does this place you seen these at have a website?

Thanks!

I just bought one of these that was a conversion from a NBA live.  PM me if I can help, as it is all going except the 49 ways.

I'm guessing it all depends on where they wired in the I40, usually it was in the CP itself.
I have a Blitz '99 manual, but the wiring should be the same for Blitz since it was on the same hardware.  If you can take a pic of the wiring in the CP and what's going to the mainboard I might be able to help.  I just finished converting a Gauntlet:DL to SportStation which had very similar wiring to the Seattle Blitz games.

I've had a blitz 99.  It's a jamma hookup. The dedicated ones use a special 39 way joystick.  You can use a regular 8 way.

If it's the 4 player, well, there's a jamma plus hookup too.

There is a little connector that goes on the board, I hope they are still there because they are the tiny pined ones.

If you want to get it back together, you could find a 25" monitor in a whole machine if you live close to an auction.  Look at this and see if you live close to one before you shell out the big $$ on a new one.

I sold a dedicated blitz for $500 once.  You'd have more that that in it.  Look and see if there is an auction close to you here - http://www.gameroommagazine.com/index.php?main_page=infopages&pages_id=95

Lots of times you can buy a game that you could care less about that has a good monitor in it.  Any monitor will work. You can even use a 19" if you build a custom frame on the inside, but it won't look that good from the bezel.

It will play though.

Those boards with the HDD are on ebay all the time.  You can "upgrade" to a 2000 now - Link (http://cgi.ebay.com/Midway-NFL-Blitz-2000-Arcade-Board-PCB-x-2-Boards_W0QQitemZ6229103457QQcategoryZ13718QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
You can buy the HDD on ebay too. I think they run about $65.

There's a control panel on ebay now also.

Happy hunting!
