Title: mpeg to avi?

A friend of mine is looking to convert mpeg files to avi.  I'm not familiar with video stuff, does anyone know of a free utility that will work for him?

Try www.videohelp.com Heaps of stuff there, however....

....Virtualdub is quite good for this sort of thing. Also very flexible.

AutoGK (http://www.autogk.me.uk/) is probably your best bet.

I've used dr. divx for a no brainer approach--virtual dub is a fine utility though--just not a plug and play one like dr. divx.

I use canpus procoder 2

but its like a $800 program
