I'm trying to do a one button solution for turning my cabinet on and I'm trying to figure out how to automatically turn on the TV since it doesn't have an auto-on feature. Anyone know of an easy way to do this? Heres something which would work, I'd just have to crack open the tv to take the wires going to the power button and connect them to one of these : http://www.securityideas.com/al60timmod.html

why a timer?

well the timer is basically just a feature on it that I wouldn't use, I was just looking for something that would click on once when it first got power, then not click again so that the monitor would turn on when the powerstrip turns on and stay on until power is disconnected. The reason I thought of this timer thing is because I used it on a switch on my car, I needed the timer because it had to wait a sec for the car to turn on before flipping the switch.

Most TVs have a relay in them that clicks on the power. I would remove the relay and hard wire it. A little electronic background doesn't hurt for something like that though.

If you're experienced with high voltage circuits I'd look for a relay that powers it up, probably somewhere near the transformer. I'm also thinking about a 1 button solution, which can be tricky with ATX motherboards. Relay's would be the solution.
One cool thing about the ATX motherboard I use is that the BIOS has a setting to allow a press of any key to power up the computer. Unfortunately the IPAC I have only allows this to work for about 3 seconds after plugging the thing in. It will work fine once the motherboard has been powered down again with the power button. To switch it on then is just a matter of hitting any of the buttons on the cabinet with is a pretty nice feature. A relay could be hooked into the 12v line of the PSU to switch the monitor and sound amplifier on.
I just wish the IPAC didn't have the initial power on bug.
