Title: Encoding for Virtual Jukebox
Post by: Scarpad on January 16, 2003, 02:37:14 pm
I'm using CD-EX and the latest lame to rip my 2000CD's
I've always used a CBR of 192 for my MP3's and they seem to be a good trade off of size and sound. But now I'm wondering if I should encode with a VBR. Anyone have any suggestions and opinions?

My VBR mp3s fell on their face.  I am not sure what the max rate was and if it was related to the 256 problem but I got rid of them. Only had a few.

Well VJ seems to like 192 bit rate no problems with any of those

Weird....

All of my mp3s are ripped with EAC, then encoded with LAME with the --r3mix preset, which is VBR. They all play perfectly....
