Title: My last day
Post by: missioncontrol on October 10, 2005, 09:26:05 am
Well fellows today was my last day at my old job. I was planning on working the notice, but the supervisor informed me that she wasn't going to allow me to finish out my notice because I didn't work (O.T.) Saturday night. I told her I was a little confused because her overtime notice said that there would be overtime Saturday 10-12-05 and that on my calander there was no Saturday 10-12-05. She did not find the humor in it nor did she realize that her notice was wrong. Well that's o.k. I was going to work my new job tomarrow during first shift so that I could be trained. guess I'll tell him I can go ahead and start full time tomarrow.

Don't you love it when you're nice enough to give notice and they just use that as an excuse to dump on you for two weeks. Oh well, screw 'em. You have a much better job now anyway! :)

That's just the best part of starting a new job, they have lost their hold over you at the old place. When they say you're let go because of no OT, just smile and say goodbye - best feeling in the world, that they're not able to bother you anymore!

As they were escorting me out I stopped at everybody I saw and told them it was nice working with them then shook their hand and when they would say I thought you were working till Friday I'd reply right in front of my "escorts" that I was planning it but they decided to fire me for working my notice.

You should have told people you were fired for nailing the supervisor.

I have a pile of papers on my desk, but they're only there to make it appear as though I have something to do today.

It goes both ways you know. There's the risk the employee will just screw around and maybe even sabotage things. You never know how vindictive a person can be, even if THEY were the one to put in the notice. That's why most companies prefer to just pay the equivalent salary and not have the person actually there "working".

Hey as long as they pay out the rest of the week I'll be happy, but they didn't say they would and with them escourting me out and being rather rude during the process I'm not sure they will. They just kept saying that we aren't going to let you work your notice. I asked about my last check and they said I could either come back at the end of the week or they'd mail it to me. I told them that since it cost me $18 per round trip that they could just mail it to me. I got direct deposit anyway so all it is, is just a receipt.

And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire...
