Circuit City has a weekly sale that started on Sunday. Creative Labs 2.1, model T3000, normally $50 available with $20 mail in rebate to Circuit City and a $20 rebate to Creative Labs, which leaves a net price of $10. This comes with a external speaker control that is easy to mount on your arcade and the speakers are easy to mount on your speaker shelf. I've been using these for several months and have had no problems.

I just bought these speakers yesterday after seeing the ad in the Sunday paper. They are surprisingly nice speakers and the wired remote is perfect for my mame cab (even has an earphone jack in the remote in case I need a Reactor fix while the kids are asleep). Also, the cords are nice and long. I didn't have to wire up any extensions. Overall, a great deal on the perfect setup.

I already have a similar set-up in my cab but I have been thinking about building or buying a new sub-woofer to really crank up the boom. My current sub is not powered and is not very impressive. Does this Creative Labs set up have a powered sub? How's the boom?
I'm thinking I buy that setup and then may be able to replace my existing sub with the new one if I can figure out the wiring and cross-over stuff.
For $10, it's hard to make a mistake.

Yep, powered sub. Good boom. 8)

Boom is good. I'll pick up a set this week. Thanks for the tip.

Thrift stores are where I find stuff cheap. There are a couple here in town that always have a good selection of working, powered PC speakers for a buck. Also I've been able to pick up powered subs from home theater systems for less than $10 ;)

I might. I went to pick a set up today and they were out. I bought 'em but can't pick them up for a couple of weeks when they come in.
If I can't figure out how to integrate them into my current cabinet's sound system, I'll consider shipping 'em off to you since I already have a very nice Cambridge Sound Works system on my main computer setup.
I am, however, hopeful that I can figure out how to splice the sub into the existing system and may swap out my current 3" tweeters with whatever the Creative unit ships with. Or maybe I'll do a dual sound-system if I can figure out how to wire the volume controls together.

Sounds like a Geiko commercial.

Circuit City has deals on these all the time, and often it's available through Circuit City dotcom. If you watch for it, It'll probably come around real soon.
