Hey guys, I recently updated from an older Mame (.94?) to .100 and I'm having these 2 problems. I've tried a few things to figure this out but I'm not getting anywhere.
1. In Mamewah 1.61, I can't generate my main games list with ALL available games. Which listgen method should I be using to generate a list of all games? Whatever was the default worked with my older version but not the new one.
2. In Mame, in the Tab menu, I no longer see a Game History option. I have history.dat in my Mame folder.
Any help with these two issues appreciated.
I mainly upgraded for the Robotron issue and I love the new version!
Thanks.

Support was removed from Mame because so many front ends support the history.dat function.

And according to Haze... history.dat (among other things) SHOULD be removed from mame because it doesn't necessarily aid in the preservation function of mame.
-
Dang, that's too bad--I always liked the History. I think it aided preservation tremendously.
Does Mamewah 1.61 support it? I'll have to look that up.
Any ideas on my listgen problem?
-
I was able to generate a list using rom_folder_vs_listxml but the list is only showing 3166 games.
I have a full rom set
A CMP scan shows something like 5788 games.
What am I doing wrong?

rom_folder_vs_listxml is the method you should be using. It sounds like an issue with clones, although I'm not sure what the problem is. You are not inside a custom list, are you?

Yeah, I realize now this is a clone issue. Yes, I'm definitely on the main list, and I DO want to show clones but they're not showing up.
I'm using merged sets. Is that the reason?
Off to try "search" again...

Okay, this is a little embarassing but I found my answer in one of my old posts in this thread:

However, the solution no longer works. I set my list gen method to "verifysets_vs_listxml" but this generates an empty list.
Since my version of Mamewah did not change, I'm assuming Mame .100 no longer supports this list generation method.
So now what?

That's right...they removed -verifysets...so basically you are stuck. The only solution is to un-merge your sets using ClrMAME...
-
But...I can run mame with -verifysets in a dos window and it works...
Also I have a list of all games (including clones) generated as a "have list" text file from clrMame. Is there any way to use that text file as a games list?

No.

Are you sure you have MAME v0.100? I'm sure this option was removed a few versions ago - just tried it with v0.101 and it is not there.

Whoops, my mistake--what I used is -verifyroms.
Is this the same thing or not?
No, -verifysets checks whether romset(s) are good & -verifyroms checks each rom in a romset and will report back bad dumps etc.
